They will usually stay on for an average time of 15 minutes or so.
It's normal.

normal, it usually depends on how hard im running my car right before i shut it off as to how long it stays on, i've had it stay on for up to 25 mins before then sometimes mostly when its cold outside it wont come on at all, but average daily driving it will stay on from 5-10 mins, so you dont have anything to worry about..

Yes this is a factory setting on all Honda's. The sensor keeps reading the temp until it comes to a satifactory temp to allow the engine to cool better and increasing engine life.

Just be glad the engine's trying to stay cool. Wonder how the Civics do it with the notebook sized radiator?

Re: cooling fan on my 1989 prelude

I would have to admit that I havent noticed the fan doing this until today and I have subsequently had my battery go flat on me. Have had to have it jump started 3 times today. I thought that it was the fan running my battery flat? The fan comes on as soon as I turn the ignition key off.

yea, a year now ive realized that our cars motor is bascially a giant cluster f*** and the motor gets super hot because theres really no room. your battery is going flat all the time not because the fans running but more because the battery is dead
