Thinking power? Swap and turbo?

Hello, I have a 89 prelude si with the b20a5 with only 90k miles. I get a nice lump some during income taxes and I am trying to take into consideration of swaps and turbo. My question is what motors that are a straight swap that can hold up to maybe 15-20 lbs of boost?

Re: Thinking power? Swap and turbo?

Please look at the forum stickies and utilize the search feature. These topics have been covered many times.

...

if your b20a5 is in good shape, you can surely turbo that motor...the only direct swappable motors for 3rd gen Preludes are the b20a's. Check out the forced induction forum as well.

In all honesty, i think you should save that money for the future or just put it as a downpayment on an new car that comes with a turbo...and maybe AWD too hehehe

I felt it would be relevant to your thread as well.

Read every single thread in there and you will find out all the answers you need.

And no you do not need a special custom exhaust, you just need to modify whatever exhaust you have to fit the H22 OEM header and downpipe.

Basically you will have a exhaust shop cut your catback a little shorter and you will use the same flange that the H22 catyletic convertor uses. The 3rd gens have the same flange but if your catback exhaust is OEM, then I highly recommend you have a 2.25", 2.5" catback made so that the motor can breathe.
