Icon1 Street Race

I just got done fixing my car. I put new shocks, brakes, passanger window (cd player got stolen... again), took out my power steering hose ( it wasn't working to begin with and it kinda grew on me). All I need now is a new exhaust system. My flexpipe area is shot so Imma replace it from the headers to the muffler. I wanna hook up my car for street races but I don't know where to start. What should I start out with?

the standard intake/headers/exhaust for starters. research different brands for those parts and the choice is yours.

This question has been asked many times. Do you want an N/A setup or turbo? it's a header on a 4 cylinder, not headers.

Then don't waste your money on a header.... or an exhaust as of yet. Work on building a turbo kit and getting it ready.

Is it better without power steering?
I haven't drove? a car without it before.
Is it hard to disable?

Without the power steering in my lude I found it easier to make turns and it handles alot easier. i get more control over my car wit the steering wheel being kinda stiff.

The only change with power steering should be when your turning at really slow speeds like backing up and parking but under speed your car should handle the same, and i would deff reaserch G-Reddy header with a turbonetics turbo

Go with blower, not nitrous(better to forge the engine, instead of burn the engine). You can do both, but not worth it. My accord lost power steering(belt broke[something froze up]), I thought it was great. Plus it helps build muscle. My dad said it was too hard too turn my car, I loved it!

blower is the same thing as a supercharger and i dont think it's possible, theres hardly enough room for one in a 4th gen much less under the hood of a 3rd gen

Try turning 9.5" wide wheels with 275's without power steering. hehe

Should we really be telling this guy what to do to street race?

honestly man...unless you just have tons of money to toss ....Get something with more power to start with, then mod it. New cars today have so much power in comparison to these older cars its a losing battle. Hell the new Altima's and Maximas are high 13 cars!! lol

But they're fat.

So we're going from modding a 1500 dollar car to modding a 28k+ dollar car?

Um your post was an oxymoron. I'd rather spend the extra 13k into the 1500 dollar car and break 10's easily.

I wasnt saying that broh...dont take it wrong. I was simply stating that todays STOCK cars are very quick.

But if you do have 13k to dump into a car that wont be worth 1/4th the money in it, by all means go for it.

Just saying you can buy other cars that have more power for a lot less money that are a better platform to make perform better.
for example..older Fox Body Stangs...2k-6k for decent ones. high mile Lt1 or LS1 cars..6-10k for nice ones. A 100k mile LS1 car that can be had for 6500 or so will crank out 13.80's all day long. :) Get an auto, put about 2k in it and run deep 12's or high 11's.

But if you wanna spend the money on a slower car and are fine with that, thats cool.

It was just my input on it is all.

And the part about modding a 28k+ car..well what I was getting at, you dont have to mod them to run decent times.

Anything can run 10's , its just a matter of how much money you throw at it. Notice all the Gremlins and Monzas at the track running 9's lol

Gotcha...that is cool man. I love it when I get smoked by something that catches me totally off gaurd. ;) Not that it happens now in the T/A but it has in other cars. LIke the SRT4. I got killed by a crappy no front bumper having 240sx lol. And my SRT was not stock!

Eff that on using the T/A as a daily. lol

I don't just own a Prelude.... I own a few more cars and I understand what you're saying however..... for 6k you can build something faster then that LS1, sure it wont have the same "potential" however..... you can also build an LS1 Datsun 280Z and cream the lights off a trans am......

Anything is possible..... though.... everything is expensive to build. Even civics.

No car that you buy will hold its value unless it's a classic, rare or exotic. Being as most of these cars are already well over 40-70k in price.... you can see why.

I am with OGs, park the lude, drive the T/A. The T/A is coming back, it will be out a couple of years after the camaro. The prelude is not(worth more). As soon as the new T/As hit, the price will drop in half for your body style. Also, bang the idea of the new altima. Their pickup sucks. I had a guy in a new 3.5 SE V6 race me in my 90 accord(208k) and he could not kepp up with me. I know for a fact that that car was pulling, but if it cannot outrun me, then it sucks. If you want a car that is mid priced($12-18k) that responds well to performance, get an IS300, with a stick.

Negative Ghost Rider.... T/A is Dead. You all are on some seriously good drugs if you think I am parking a 252k mile Prelude for a Great condition/modded 99 T/A that I love that gets 25+ mpg and will run Deep 11's all day long and has perfect street manners with all the stock goodies and a/c and system in it.

The new camaro is coming back true...the Trans Am is a dead nameplate. That is why they have been revamping the GTO and GP with rwd big power. To make up for it on the pontiac lineup.

In case you havent noticed....Clean low mile 4th gen T/A's are pulling 18-25k.
high miles are pulling 10-15k

And for what I paid for this car, it has a SHYT load of appreciation to do before it will ever be worth more than my T/A lol!~!!

So your saying your 90 accord with 208k on it will run mid to high 13's ...damn! Better call motor trend!
