so i guess what my question was, are the 3rd gen lude's reliable cars?

Re: Was it worth it?

Reliable? It's a Honda, of course they're reliable. But you also have to keep in mind that the one you're looking at getting is 22 years old. The reliability of it will definitely depend on the types of care and abuse it's seen over the years. My 89 Si 4ws is extremely reliable...now. When I first bought it, not so much.

The other thing to consider is that while it does have a back seat, it's not really usable for anyone with legs. It will work for a while for a rear facing car seat, but have fun getting the kid out of it. You might want to consider a car with 4 doors for family use.

i asked the seller about that. he bought the car new and drove it to high school. he has had several car seats in it. my mom, step dad and math teacher went to school with him and backed him up on that. i kinda figured it was reliable. my older brother had a 88 Accord with a h22a. it was the fastest and most reliable car he has ever owned. today he drives a 91 z32 300zx n/a. thanks for the comments.

Read the signature please. That's a fair warning.

I like savannas and infinis, but after an LS1 has been dropped in. Really not safe for family after that swap. Pics of prelude or never happened!

I bought a titleless 1973 RX7 last year and goddamn that car was such crap LOL it was for 100 bucks though I had it for less than a month. I second getting a sedan. Safe and reliable is what you should look for. You should check out turbo Volvos! haha

Im sorry, but volvo's are the ugliest excuse for a car on the face of this planet. lol i just dont like them. but i understand what you are saying about getting a sedan. but i dont have the money to go out and buy a car. every car i have ever had has been paid for from the profit of a dirt bike. i sold my dirt bike for 400, bought a 88 fiero, sold the fiero for 500, bought a 89 240sx for 400, flipped the 240sx 7 times and sold it for 500, bought a 84 rx7 gsl for 500, sold it for 600, bought another 84 rx7, it was the biggest piece of **** ive ever owned, sold it for 300, then i bought the 88 convertible rx7 for 300. after that my dad gave me his truck. then i found out my wife is pregnant. im just getting tha lude because thats what ive been offered. i WANT fast rear wheel drive drift car. but i NEED back seats and reliability.

Re: Was it worth it?

Sounds like your situation dictates that you do this deal. And if the seller is the original owner of this lude, then I'd say it's probably in pretty good condition. You gotta do what you gotta do, and if this is the only thing you can get right now to use for a family car then it beats the alternative. And, obviously, the amount of back seat room you have is directly affected by the amount of room the people in the front seat need. So if you or your wife are not tall, then there should be sufficient room back there.

Re: Was it worth it?

Yes, it should fit fine behind her. When I sold my 91, one of the potential buyers actually brought a car seat with her when she came to look at the car. It fit just fine behind her seat. She was about 5 1/2 feet tall or so I would guess.

It's just reaching behind to get the kid out that might be difficult, especially in a rear-facing car seat. And the rear seat doesn't have the newer anchor points that are required in newer cars so it might be difficult getting it secured down with a lap and shoulder belt.

haha I wouldn't own a 90's volvo either. I love the 3rd gen even if I don't have 4ws, it's just a great handler man. I've had offers for the car and have turned them down. I do not want most cars after having owned this car. It's just so different compared to others. This Prelude, to me, is more engaging than any other car I've ever driven. Welcome to the dark side buddy!

Haha what color was your FB? You got a late model! I got the first year and it was a faded white, rusted, and had a manure brown interior. It was a very unique car and looked good to me, but damn it wasn't reliable for anything!

ive heard that about these cars, but my brothers 300zx is damn fun. Power out the ass! my FB was jet black with grey interior. the body looked great. except the sun roof. it was rusted. it was a pretty fun little car to drive as well. it was running low compression on both rotors and i had it a 130mph in 4th gear.

I really recommended the 3rd gen see if you can get one day with the car to familiarize yourself with it; If you've already decided on getting it the post pics NOAW!

It went through the slalom at 65.5 mph (105.4 km/h), an amazing result for the time. For reference, the 1988 Corvette took the same course at 64.9 mph (104.4 km/h).
