Re: $600 3rd gen to good to be ture?

The first one said it had a swap done and the second one says V6. I wouldn't recommend getting a car that someone did an engine swap in and the V6 is obviously a swap. The first one has a ton of miles on it. I wouldn't purchase either. You get what you pay for. Good luck.

Re: $600 3rd gen to good to be ture?

^^Bad advice. An engine replacement is not an engine swap. An engine replacement is relatively simple. The second one is obviously a typo. I can guarantee that it doesn't have a v6.

Go and look at them yourself. The picture of the first one looks pretty good, but it's easy to hide flaws in a low resolution pic. But I see two things that make me salivate...the factory front lip and the clear corner markers.

I've seen lots of things claimed in car ads that were not true. To shoehorn a v6 into a 3rd gen would be a very daunting task, and as far as I know hasn't successfully been done. And I've been around 3rd gen Preludes for many years.

lets say it did have a V6 conversion. would that make it worth more or less?

Re: $600 3rd gen to good to be ture?

The value IF it had a J swap would be significantly more.

Re: $600 3rd gen to good to be ture?

Well that would depend on the quality of the swap, and who did it. And also how it was treated since the swap. Normally, swaps actually decrease the book value of a car (trade-in value for example).

Enthusiasts will often pay more for a car that has a known common swap, like an H22 swapped 3rd gen. A J-swapped 3rd gen, you'd have to find the right buyer if you wanted to re-coup any of the money you spend on the swap. But I'm 100% confident that when you go look at it you will find a 3rd gen engine under the hood. Besides, it's obviously a typo...I mean, have you ever seen a "2 cc 6 cyl." engine?

Re: $600 3rd gen to good to be ture?

I've looked into a v6 swap, and it's impossible without serious fabrication. It's a typo. Otherwise, I bought my Prelude for $400 and I just had to put a new clutch in it. It does have 247,000 miles on it, but it still runs well.

Re: $600 3rd gen to good to be ture?

Theres no way in hell (without serious money and modification) that ur fittin a J series motor in a 3g. Its hard enough puttin an h22 in one. Obviously the girl selling it doesnt know wtf shes talkin about. Plus how many 2 liter 6 cylinders do u know of? If ur interested take someone with u to look in PERSON. What it says online doesnt mean anything.

Re: $600 3rd gen to good to be ture?

The add for the "V6" 3g has been up there for a while. Not only does it claim to have a V6 but it's a 2cc V6 with 4wd, a 2cc motor would fit easily but you would be better off with a 2L 4cyl fwd. The owner obviously knows nothing about cars but it may still be worth taking a look at.

The $600 car would cost you a couple hundred dollars in fuel and a days driving to pick up and bring back, it would be easier to find one locally if you can.

Oh, and welcome from a fellow 3g Canberran.
