starting my build saturday

I will be starting my build this Saturday and was hopin you guys had any tips/suggestions. I am goin to photo document the whole process. I plan on doin a complete rebuild. A couple months ago I was on a back country road and drove off the road accidentally up a hill. I don't want to be told how to do it just some helpful tips. Its an '88 4ws by the way.

Re: starting my build saturday

take your time and do your best to get everything done right the first time. if something bothers you in the slightest, get it fixed because you'll be happier in the end.
goodluck!

will you be documenting on this thread?

Re: starting my build saturday

I'll try to keep it in here. My dad is an autobody specialist and he's goin to be there the whole time. Saturday we're just goin to get all the body parts and cut quarters. I stoked cause I've had this car for six years and wanted to do this the whole time. I got the money and extra time now.

that's awesome man, glad you stuck with it for so long. don't know if you saw my thread about selling but you've definitely shed some new light on me keeping the lude.

Re: starting my build saturday

You have a 3rd gen for sale? If so I think you should keep it. They're so hard to come by. At least where I'm at.

Re: starting my build saturday

naw it's the 4th gen in my sig, but i'm definitely going to keep it. i was so worried about resale on the car that i never thought about fixing it in the long run and keeping her for as long as possible.

Re: starting my build saturday

Passenger side quarter is off. Starting on driver side in just a few. This is more time consuming than I expected but I'm still overly excited. Ull post the pictures when I'm around a CPU. I'm on my phone at the moment.

Re: starting my build saturday

Ok so after all that time yesterday I got the passenger side quarter panel off and started on the driver side when my final batter died. I'm gonna go back and get it tomorrow just to make sure all my batteries are charged. Its been exciting so far. I'm keepin her completely stock. Stock paint wheels and parts. I tried postin the pics last night while I was around a cpu but the site was down for maintenance. I'll try again later. I don't have a cpu so its gonna be difficult but I'll get it done.

Re: starting my build saturday

glad that your enjoying it! that's what counts.
do you have a local library that you can go to?
they should have free internet access. you just need to be able to get your pictures onto a hosting site and then grab the image codes from there.

Re: starting my build saturday

You know where I can get good lowering springs? I busted a ball joint today figured it'd be a good time to change those while I'm at it.

Re: starting my build saturday

it depends on how low you want to go.
i'm almost positive we have a thread on springs in the suspension section of the forum. start there
remember that your stock struts will go pretty quickly.

Ok all the extra time I thought I had to fix my lude up ran out. I got it sittin in a garage. On the bright side I found a '92 and I think I'm gonna buy it. Is the h23 a good engine?

Re: starting my build saturday

So I've been doin lil things to my car. Quarters still just sittin there. I need a driver side tail light assembly. Tomorrow I'm pullin the engine out and cleanin the whole engine bay. I'm still tryin to get these photos uploaded. Next spring I'm doin an h22 swap and doin away with the sissy stick (thank God). First things first I gotta get these quarters hung and fresh white paint. Hate the blue that's on it.

Did you buy the 4th gen? And yes, the h23 is a good engine. But it's not the desired engine because it's not vtec and has less power than the h22.
