90 4ws auto prelude op wanted

Hi, I was on craigslist wanting a 3rd gen prelude for quite some time and it will also be my first car. What i was wondering is your guys' opinion on this deal on craigslist. Need help deciding a good price to bargain for.

1990 HONDA SI PRELUDE 4WS

It currently has 200,xxx miles and was wondering how long can i expect this car to last given routine maintenance. I need it for college as an everyday driven vehicle.

I personally wouldn't recommend getting an automatic. If it's still running good and the people who owned it before took good care of it (regular oil change, etc.), it could still run for a very long time without any serious problems. It's all up to you in the end. So make sure you do your research before deciding to buy and talk them down in price. Good luck.

I would skip and and wait for a 5 speed to come around. Keep in mind that these cars haven't lived easy lives. It could have gone through 200k of slavery for all you know.

Hey hey hey! My 3rd gen was automatic and it was just fine! But it wasn't anywhere near 200k on the odo. It's a white 4WS, it's worth a look see. Bring the family mechanic with you to inspect it. Deduct from the price accordingly. I loved S3/S4 on my auto, took the sluggish right out!

I don't know much about cars but so far, i am getting the feeling that 200k on the odometer is too high. I guess i'm just worried it won't last me as long as i want it to be.

As much as I love 3rd gen preludes, they are terrible first cars. Laundry list of issues, mostly from negligence, 50/50 chance your not gonna drive 500 miss before they start showing up, and limited aftermarket support, unlike civics, integras, or Accords. At least go see the car and post videos so we can give feedback. It's your call.

I've been looking at this car too for a DD, seems priced a little high, but the body looks good for DD.

Prodigy, where's your "beiges?" Lol Tide or Era? You know what I'm talking about! Fraggin grass stains! The price is high, go for a 92-96 prelude instead. We lost like 5 this month!

Bad advice in my opinion. The $1300 4WS option was a lot in 1988-1991 and was passed on by most Prelude buyers. A nationwide search for a 4WS Lude reveals only 1 listing today.

I just happen to own an 89 Si 4WS with an automatic transmission. Both the engine and transmission have 249000 miles and both are in perfect health! The handling of this car with the AT is absolutley insane!

Below is a road test chart from the Honda service manual. I took it with me when I test drove my Lude and checked in at each range before I bought it. It;s been the best car I've ever owned!
