CAI question (using integra intake)

I've done all the research and I'm ready to install my new intake I bout it's for a 94-01 acura integra just like all the right ups said.

the only thing I want to know is this. I have a 1991 prelude with the B20A5 and when I took off the stock intake I noticed that extra pipe down below the top intake manifold. I remembered someone saying something about it being an extra intake for when you really get on it. What do I do about it? by another small filter and put it on? it's kinda hidden all the way down in the bottom, it's kinda crazy. I don't want to leave it open in case something gets sucked in.

so I figured I'd ask the people who should know.

thanks

Just install it and dont worry about it. Changing intakes is not rocket science and we have all done our own ways one way or another.

Nothing will happen.

It sounds simular to what my second gen Prelude had. It had a separate pipe that branched off the main air intake line and ran along the top of the radiator. Underneath the part that ran along the radiator it had several small holes in it. Its purpose was to suck in warm air from the engine compartment when the engine was running at low rpms to help with the mixing of the fuel and air. At high rpms, the amount of air contributed by this pipe that ran along the top of the radiator was very small relative to total air flow and of no consequence.

Re: CAI question (using integra intake)

it come off the stock air box and goes underneath the intake manifold to what looks like another intake manifold. I read on a post here somewhere that it is another intake for high RPMS to pull more air in. it is after the stock filter.

I'm going to install it anyways and not worry... these engines are tanks and will run on two cylinders anyways so I'm not worried.

so does changing the muffler actually do anything aside from change the sound?

Re: CAI question (using integra intake)

You won't really see any increase in power by just changing the muffler. The main restriction is in the downpipe. To really gain anything you need to go with a header, bigger exhaust, and a high flow muffler. But even then the gains are modest. But the sound is much better, especially if you go with a good muffler (not a fart can).
