Where to start?

So, I just bought a 91 lude... It is fairly stock besides the rims and exhaust. I want to keep working on the car as more money comes along and keep adding to it. But as of now I don't know where to begin. What should I do? If I could get some suggestions of what would be the best thing to start out on when modding my car that would be great. Thanks a lot!

Re: Where to start?

What goals do you want to obtain from the work you put into your car.

Re: Where to start?

Does it have the rear spoiler? That's pretty sexy.

Re: Where to start?

It already has tints and the stock spoiler. But I think I was going to just start with maybe a bodykit/paint.. and then do some interior work. Eventually I'd like to add to the engine but for now and until I can afford it, I just wanted to make it look 10 times better if I could.

Re: Where to start?

don't do a body kit. start with maintenance if you haven't already done so.

Re: Where to start?

x...5? Maintenance always comes first when doing work to a car. there's nothing more embarrassing then seeing a car sitting on the side of the road that looks nice but was not taken care of...say, not changing the oil and adding rims and HID's instead...or putting phat Hweels on it and forgetting about those pesky tires. Concerning body kits, most of them ruin the lines of the car, which is a key thing to consider when making exterior modifications. The only exceptions that I've really seen is the Mugen body kit...which can be hard to get a hold of an authentic full kit. Anyway, welcome to the site bud.

Re: Where to start?

I appreciate all the tips! I'll get pictures up within a few days. Also with regards to maintenance, it has a lot done... New plugs, brakes, sensors, oil/filter. But what are some other things I can do? I don't mean to sound completely ignorant but I also don't want to waste my time starting in the wrong place. Again, thanks a lot!

Re: Where to start?

Not to be picky or anything, but how are the tires? Or has the timing belt been changed recently(depending on the mileage? Maintenance is far from wasting your time. But I do understand what you're saying. You don't want to do unnecessary maintenance, like changing the oil every 3K miles. But what you should start with all depends on what you're looking for. Are you looking for a 3rd Gen sleeper? A monster-looking with an engine to match? Cleanest 3rd Gen around? Something really special looking? Or how about best sound system you can find? These are all possibilities, so if you give us an idea of what you're looking to do, then we can help a lot more!!

Re: Where to start?

Invest in a Service manual. Take the PDF file from our 3rd gen resource thread, and take it over to kinkos or staples and make a binder with sheet protectors. It'll cost about 75-100 bucks more or less, BUT IT WORTH IT'S WEIGHT IN GOLD.

here you go: http://downloads.hondatech.info/Auto...e%20Manual.zip

The rest of the "stuff" will fall into place. Sauce Please. This Thread has no Sauce.

Grey scale photos will suffice. Welcome to Preludezone.

Re: Where to start?

The tires are in fair condition and could probably be changed soon. But as for the timing belt I don't know. That's something I'll probably check into. As of now since I am just looking to spend money on it as I save it, I can't do much to it. But over time I would like to just make it very clean, and just nice in general or as you said, special looking. I want to make it fast too, but until I get the right money for the right parts I was thinking about waiting. As for the service manual I'll do that too!
