overheating still

i installed a NEW radiator
new thermostat
new radiator cap

but it still over heats.......

I let it idle for 20-25 minutes and it was fine..... normal temp
i took it half a block down the way and back........over heated like you wouldnt believe.

i drained the radiator and the water was barely luke warm

so in retrospect i am thinking that my water pump impeller maybe spinning on the shaft but only under load (being driven)......is that even possible?????

i have new one in hand but i ran out of daylight

is it building pressure really fast or anything like that? because sounds like what mine did when i blew the head gasket, it would stay right in the middle as long as it was idleing but when i went to take it for a drive the temp would shoot all the way up...

as i watch the water in the radiator (at the cap) it didnt flow across like it should it kind of just surged and pulsed , not a constant flow

hummm i would be weary of the head gasket being on upside down, you might not have a visable leak to the outside of the head because it might be leaking into the cylinders, pull the plugs out and get somebody to turn it over and see if it shoots water out of the plug holes

Sounds like a bad pump.....change it... it's easy. Might as well do a TB change while you're there.

are you taking the intake mani off of the head before you pull the head? it's much easier to pull with the intake mani still attached to the head, then you dont have to worry about replacing or tearing the intake mani gasket
