changed the cat, but still low rpms!!!??

88 4ws 2litre Prelude, ...low rpms, was running fine, but lost rpms the other day. I have changed the fuel filter, plugs, cap and now the catalytic converter with no improvements. It was running just fine a few days ago but now when its cold I can get the rpms to 5500 and when its warm 4500, but I start losing lower around 3500 rpms. I can hear a hissing noise. Car does not over heat! fluids are fine!

Is there a vacuum assist to advance the timing?

Got any ideas?

Please help

thanks
Ken

No,, I have not done a compression test. The car seems to run fine at low rpms, ...purs like a kitten!still lots of power at low rpms, but once I step on it or go over about 3000, the power starts to subside and eventually bogs and cannot an even idle. FOr those reasons I have not done a compression test.....yet!

Any other suggestions?

wet compression test.

Check your timing.

Does it feel like your misfiring?

What symptoms/noises does the vehicle make above 3000rpm?

Checked gap on the spark plugs?

Whoever told you it was the cat... they didn't know what the hell they were talking about.

Try disconnecting your oxygen sensor(s) and drive around like that.... if the problem goes away it could be that.

I need more information to be able to help you. online diagnostics suck.

well i would be that person who told him that it might be the cat. along with Brian, and who the hell are you to say that i dont know what in the hell i am talking about, for your information thats the reason i dont have a cat on my car, a couple weeks after i got it i lost all of my upper RPM range from 4k up and went through the same stuff he did and nothing worked, so i cut the cat out and welded in a test pipe because it was clogged, and guess what.... IT FIXED THE ****ING PROBLEM.... so don't try and say that i dont know what im talking about!!!!

You don't know what you're talking about. More then likely the reason why your cat is clogged is because you're running rich. If you're running rich you passing unburnt fuel through the exhaust. Once it reaches the catalytic converter it burn, clogs etc....

So your problem wasn't the cat to begin with. It's more then likely you're running rich. You don't know what the hell you're talking about.

And I'm team123luder.... your daddy... Ask Brian.... he'll let you know I'm your biological father as well.
