good exhaust?

so i have an 89 si 4ws, and i was wondering what would be a good header/ cat back exhaust to invest in, i was thinking greddy cat back but they only make it for 4th/5th genners. are the frames/chassis similar enough that these would work anyways?

as far as headers, all i can find is pacesetters, which ive heard arent the best, but better than manifolds...

DC sports discontinued theirs so ive heard as well.

people tell me all i need is any b series engine headers, but i think theyre wrong because of the angle the b20s sit at in these cars.

input?

thanks

Re: good exhaust?

Search function next time.

Thermal R&D made a catback for our cars, but it's been discontinued. The 4th gen chassis are completely different and isn't compatible with the 3rd gen. Go the same route as some of us 3rd geners here and go custom on the exhaust.

Re: good exhaust?

^that's not entirely all true you know...4th gen exhaust systems do fit on our 3rd gens. They dont fit snug 100%(obviously) but they can...ask user: Sideswipe Si. He did it. I think...shiet i've known him forever and i still can't remember all of the wild stuff he bought for his 3rd gen...

but the mad asian JoshuaaXD is right. Most of us go custom exhaust with the muffler of your choice. I should know, i went through 3 different setups

First setup I was mufflerless and did a straightpipe. Not suggested. one, you pollute the Earth. Second, it smells. Third it's TOO LOUD. Fourth it's illegal in most states.

Second setup: Magnaflow dual tip - FREEKING DEEP AND LOUD - not my cup of tea.

Last setup: Small Magnaflow truck muffler. Deep and subtle. Not too loud.

as for a header aka exhaust manifold, the only ones that are still available(i think) are the Chikara tork step(that's the way it's spelled last time i checked), or Hedman header(same company). And you're right about "people." Not all B series engines are the same. Our B series motors have no parts that are interchangeable with other B series. I consider our B series the OG, or father B series that sports the "Gansta lean" motor tilt.

...waiting for the salesman with the Yellow 3rd gen to chime in and start to push his products...any minute now...

Its all custom now, no makes a header or exhaust anymore.

Header:
Hedman headers(Chikara series) - stop producing, but might find a dealer or two with old stock.
DC - discontinued.
Pacesetter - still selling where they have in stock, are not producing anymore.
OBX has replicated the DC header in stainless steel and are sold on ebay.

Catbacks:
Thermal R&D - stopped producing destroyed their jigs
LSD Racing - They stopped supporting us as of 2 months ago
Pacesetter - still can be purchased with what is left in stock

You only have one option for a header or catback - OBX and Pacesetter

Its too bad, we are losing ground after a good 5 year run for aftermarket. But due to lack of support and negative efforts of some members, there is really no more aftermarket now.

I can only reproduce my H22 kits in group buys of 15+ to make it feasable.
You can still get H22 mounts made in steel, they were copied off of my kit, so at least that is a viable option for some.
And there are only two sources for aftermarket for B20/21 mounts.
And one source for a Traction Bar.

Other than that, we got nothing pretty much anymore.

Until I get enough serious demand for anything, there is not much that can be done.

It takes real money to get things made.

haha mad asian that made me LMAO! In my defense I'm a hybrid lmfao filipino and english. My project is going to be so slow dude, I just noticed that my Pontiac is not a very good dd, reasons being the car get 17mpg on slow driving and when my foots down the reading can get down to 12mpg, I'm thinking about trading it for a Corolla lol. I've been trying to make some extra money by taking my photography seriously.

I knew Sean was gonna pop out of no where haha it was inevitable.

I'm getting some people attracted to the 3rd gen some really like it, some are put off by it. People are ignorant with our old Preludes. Especially the Honda scene, they are too caught up with their k20 ek9s and all that bs.
Never me give me a 3rd gen any day!

Yeah, I was really in love with Sean's site, it made me disappointed to find out that so many of the products aren't being made anymore.

Re: good exhaust?

A shout out? Thanks B. I stayed bosal factory (si twin pipe), then Expanded the tips to take chrome covers. I did have a Sheepdog Catback for 4th gens JUST DYING TO PUT IT ON! It fits like a glove, but you need to change over hangers and grommets. Sideswipe SI met an untimely demise before I could switch to sheep dog.

Neuspeed Made Headers for the 3rd gen, I had it. DC sports made a set too. ebay will eventually give out results if you keep searching. Also, If you get an aftermarket MAGNAFLOW converter (by dimension, not car) that would give all the growl you need.

There's always turbo with custom manifold, LOL
