Let's Talk Intakes

I see 2 types of intakes. Short ones and the long cold air intake... does it really matter which one you use? What's the difference besides the size.

length makes a difference. if you get a short one, get the longest short one you can find.

in a nutshell, the shorter the intake, the less power its going to make.

most girls do say that size matters. lol yeah I agree with blake. Also take note that for some reason the short ram is louder then the cai Longer intake. Resonance??

Yeah, since the CAI has the filter under the fender, it seems quieter to the driver. Anyway, the general consensis is CAI for mid range, SRI for top end

ok in a nutshell since no one really covered it lol

short ram-in the engine bay and will suck in hot air the engine gives off

long ram- pretty much a true cold air intake which locates the filter away from all the engine gases/heat

Speak for yourself.
We dont have intakes that go into the fender.
We do have intakes that sit underneath the baterry tray.

if you want a quality intake that is 'specifically' made for "our" cars, check these guys out: http://store.lsdmotorsports.com/merc...ode=L700-Honda

Hmm, it's a bit more complicated then that... has a lot more to do with the fact that, depending on the engine size, you need there to be a certain amount of air in the plumbing as is.
I can't remember the math on this, as I used it years ago.... but on B20A5's you need a 3" ID plumbing about 3' in length.... as straight as possible...

WE DO HAVE CAI THAT FIT INTO THE FENDER! I do. Everyone in here might be far too young to know who tom at Ludespeed was. He made it possible for us to use 4th gen CAI in our cars. He even offered a "true" CAI for our cars instead of that extra long short ram LSD offers.

If you're afraid of doing some customizing to your car then stay away from it, if not

http://mustardcat.brinkster.net/p3g/...dairintake.htm

there you go.

Have fun making a TRUE CAI

I wonder if I can still find the formula and see what it would take for an H22.... hmmm time to google 3 year old crap again.

And prelude 13, you can use a 4th gen CAI with the Ludespeed cut out.
