Icon6 Air Compressor Issue

Happy Memorial Weekend & Thanks to all those who have & are currently serving.

I have A/C questions...

The last internal repair that I would like to do deals with the A/C. I do not hear the compressor turning on, but air does blow out (albeit too warm for my liking). Therefore, I know it can be either:
a) compressor itself
b) A/C Clutch (relay / cycling switch)

What is the most economical way in order to go about fixing the issue?

Also, is it correct to assume that if I were to go ahead and try to purchase a new A/C assembly from the salvage yard / ebay (or any place that you guys may suggest), I can pull one from any 3rd generation model?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Air Compressor Issue

I'm having this same issue, lil green light comes on on the AC button, but no sound that would indicate the compressor running and definitely no difference in temp through the vents. I checked the thread below this one according to Spawn148 and that seems to be a different AC problem altogether. Any help on this predicament? I could go without AC, but the girlfriend LOVES it! :P lol

Look under the hood to see if the clutch engages once the A/C is turned on, if not then you will have to trouble shot. The artiecle I was referring to is titled 1990 air conditioner problem At the bottom its tells of the compressor control unit that may be the source of your problem.

Re: Air Compressor Issue

if u turn on ur fan to max and press the AC button the light will turn on.. if u cant hear the compressor kicking in it could be something as simple as no freon in the lines.. probably got a leak somewhere.. thats what happened to my lude a while back. i fixed da leak recharged the system and works perfect now.
