Icon6 Question for the B21a1 Owners - Gas / Oil

Once again, I'm really trying to learn this stuff as I am a Prelude newbie for less than a week...

The guy I bought my prelude from used the "cheap stuff" as gas. Do you guys notice any issues with this? I just remember my dad's old Honda experiencing some knocks in his engine when he used the "cheap stuff."

Also, do you guys recommend using any:
Fuel Additive / Cleaner
Fuel Injector / Cleaner
If so, which?

Lastly, I read Prelude13's the post saying that synoil is not worth the cost
[ B21a1 owners hollah at your boy!! ]. However, I am curious to know how many of you guys use regular oil vs the synthetic blend.

I currently like the car / engine and trying to preserve it for as long as possible (currently @ 178k miles)

Thanks guys!

By the way -- Check this guy out hahaha:

Re: Question for the B21a1 Owners - Gas / Oil

I had a 91 Si (b21a1) with 206k miles when I sold it. I used conventional oil and changed it every 2500 to 3000 miles. It burned through about a quart between oil changes. I use synthetic in my 89 Si (b20a), but I don't have to add any oil between changes on that engine. My rule of thumb is if you have to add oil between changes, I just stick with conventional oil.

I'm not sure what you mean by "cheap stuff", but I always ran 87 octane gas in my b21, and that's what I run in my b20a as well. I use fuel injector cleaner every couple of years. If you decide to use that on yours, be prepared to replace the fuel filter if injector cleaner hasn't been used on it for a long time (or never). It will also clean your gas tank and fuel lines, and all of that gunk will get stuck in the filter.

^everything he said. X2

Not all b21's are the same. But yeah, come on lets be real they will burn oil. So synth stuff costs more why bother?

Myself, i used 91 octane and having fun* 93
