Re: my hood mods...... in progress
I like it! Although from the pic it looks like the passenger side hood cut might need a little work. but it is obviously still a work in progress. Keep me updated.

Re: my hood mods...... in progress
well im finally done with painting my ride..... glad its over.. now for the accents and badges... but here are the pics from start to finish
final paint pics are not so good... I will get some better ones.. it was getting dark ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ok finally done with painting.... pics are poor quality.... I was running out of daylight..... but here it be.. satin black.............rustoleum.. not rattle can but the quart size.. $9.00 at Lowes what I did was heat up the rustoleum to damn near the point of it smoking, then shot it with an hvlp with no reducer...... when it cooled it pulled all the orange peal nice and tight on the car... worked like a charm... as you can see, I had some greenhouse plastic that I turned into a paint booth.... it has been a long, long, long, project.. glad its over.. except the buffing of course.. I sprayed 2 quarts of rustoleum., 1 quart each shot... heating it up was like thinning it out... and yes, the drying time was fast.. its kind of weird though, when you are spraying, it looks like there is going to be major orange peel., but there is something about it being hot, then cooling down real quick that pulls the paint tight on the car.... not one single run., and Im no professional painter by all means the way I see it, the two (thick) coats should last a while, I'll just keep wet sanding it every year.... and if I need a quick touch up.., I'll just get a rattle can of the same kind... its universal in a way as far as after the paint job..., I didn't have to sand it.., I just used some body (paint) scrub and some elbow grease.., along with a buffer..., and I gotta say it looks fantastic.. and its as smooth as silk.. Im sold.... you can't beat the price... the pics that are posted don't do it any justice.... they are of horrible quality. I took them right when the sun was setting.. I'll post some better ones total cost for the entire paint job 2 quarts rustoleum satin black....................$18 harbor freight cup gun and water filter.........$22 TSP... the real stuff.................................$5 my stepdad ownes a regular painting company so all the prep materials was on the house..., and believe me, I preped the hell out of it.. for my front bumper.., I melted plastic to fill in the gap where the crome strip goes. only a few spots for some bondo... I used an orbital for the rough stuff, then blocked it with 150, then 1000 grit sandpaper... but come to find out..., you only need to use 150 grit because the rustoleum just filled in everything... top of my trunk lid.. 150 grit.., thats nuts at the same time, I set up the paint environment the best I absolutely could..., with a bunch of heaters, and I even made a filter system that pulled air from the ground and pushed filtered air in from the top.... the paint was very forgiving.. it all just leveled out by itself... I am amazed by it.. there are countless youtube videos on the "rustoleum paint job" its where I did all my research... I got the heating it up part from some hot rod forum.., I guess its what the old-schoolers used to do back in the day... I got lucky when I read the post, because I did a regular google search on "heating up paint" yada, yada, and I couldn't find **** on the net about this process.... "freakin old schoolers and their trick of the trade.. I love it" ... and yes you can even use a fine nap weenie roller and a heat gun to get the same results without a paint booth... just takes more time... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: my hood mods...... in progress
You put a lot of effort and time into that. Looks perfect. Unfortunetaly, Only people with 3rd gen. Preludes would notice that on the streets and I guarantee you, There aren't many people where you live that own them. But definitally a good effort.
