Rear Window

ok, about 2 weeks ago I woke up and got ready to leave for work. i get to my car and notice, I have no back window! I was extremly angry. After searching and searching for one i found one at a local salvage yard. I paid them for the window and was told they would have it ready the next day. the next day they called and told me they broke it. So I called around some more and finally, today, i found another one. It'll be installed Friday and cost me right at a weeks paycheck. I see these cars everywhere so why was it so hard to find a window?

Re: Rear Window

Maybe you weren't looking in the right places? It's not very common to have to replace the rear window, so there probably was never a very large inventory of spare windows made.

It's like a lot of the parts on these cars now. It's getting harder and harder to find a lot of 3rd gen parts. Just try to find a new left rear upper ball joint.

Re: Rear Window

Wait, why didn't you get your money back from the dudes who took your money and then proceeded to break the window they were installing? I'd go and do some negative feedback online on those guys, if they won't give you your money back.(Giving a someone a negative reputation on the internet these days is one of the worst things you can do, without say sueing them for something) And the reason is that Honda only has to continue to make parts for cars out of production for five years from the year they end production. So as you can imagine, as time goes on, parts get more scarce and less reliable. Thus why so many of us have a good bit of stuff from ebay, or have had buddies hook us up. Especially for a 3rd gen, as old as it is.

Re: Rear Window

My rear window had all these stupid stickers on the inside. I scraped them off ever-so-carefully and still i couldn't save the defroster lines.

I searched forever until a friend who lived in Rhode Island found a spare rear glass at a R.I. salvage. Needless to say I drove up there to pick it up. 6 hours round trip y0.

I hate and love these cars.

I was always told it was seven years. But either way, parts is gettin' hard to find.

The previous owner of my current lude had removed window tint from the rear glass. There were only about three of the defroster grid lines that still worked when I got it. I was able to get most of them working by painting the lines with the defroster grid paint that you can buy. It doesn't look great, but at least it works.
