Definitely want to see pics of this. I've only had one experience with the weapon R intake and that was like 4 years ago or so but I was happy with it. Keep us informed.

It's just funny that I'd come perusing and see my lude

I bought the lude with the air intake already on so I can't give you any before/after advice but I will tell you that the intake has a really nice throaty hum to it. It's not too loud yet noticeably sexy sounding. When/if you put it in be cognizant when you let the whole filter bit of it rest. Make sure it's away from the transmission gear linkage or whatever near there. When I got it I noticed that there was some rubbing when I put it in 3rd from contact with the plastic around the filter.

Here's the first day I went and test-drove it months ago. It's all waxed and clean now.

Re: New Air Intake!

I just got my intake installed. Ebayed $120 (taxed, free shipping). The directions don't really help at all, if anyone is interested in getting this. The rubber parts are a bitch to put on, btw. My intake came with no clamp for the hoses and one of the hoses that connects to the engine, you'd wanna go get a longer one from autozone (the one i got was short). Here's a video and some pictures (i'll get better later):

Re: New Air Intake!

How's the new intake working for you? I was debating between this or just adding a cold air intake.

Re: New Air Intake!

A short ram will do nothing for you performance wise. But it does increase the intake sounds, which I like. I run a home made short ram. I can't see paying $120 for this one. After all, it's just tubing and a filter. I used parts from a 3" cai I grabbed from an Integra that was in the junkyard and bought a k&n filter for it. The filter cost me $35 and the junkyard cai was three bucks "including the clamps and couplers). Total cost was less than $40. I can post a pic of it when I get home today if anyone is interested.

Re: New Air Intake!

Yup, it barely tweaks the performance but has the coolest sound ever. I was thinking about making that custom cai off ebay but a lot of my friends are saying it could be illegal without the branding in CA, is that true? The cool thing about this SRI is that it clears a lot of space and has a great tune, but barely tuning up the performance. It's okay though cause my exhaust sounded bad but with this in, it makes it sound better and a bit more balanced.

Re: New Air Intake!

You mean they require you to buy a brand name intake there when changing from stock? I didn't consider the CA requirements. I don't have emissions testing where I live so I usually don't think about having to meet any. I suppose I could slap a k&n or injen sticker on it though if it came to it, lol. It doesn't look home made, so adding a sticker would make it look more legit.

Looks good, good pickup. My friend had that intake in his 3rd gen; the "Dragon-intake" sounded really mean and loud to be honest.

although its not shiny nor is it painted like this anymore gets the job done.. as for increase in power?? i noticed that when i bought a bike

Re: New Air Intake!

Well the 91 had an SRI and it was shot. So I need an intake. I know it does not put out a lot of power but I need an intake never the less. Money is not an problem. I spent a bunch of money restoring this bad boy and this will be the cheapest thing I bought for it. I still need to do the body work and paint. This is what we do so money comes and goes with this hobby I guess. LOL

Re: New Air Intake!

Yup most of my friends said they noticed the beasty sound it makes now. But yeah they've be telling me that i should just make a custom cai and throw AEM sticker on it.

Re: New Air Intake!

You can do that, but it's the highest point in the engine bay. And it's also where most of the heat will be. By pointing it down over near the stock filter area, you will be moving the filter to a cooler area of the engine bay. It still gets pretty warm there but it's much cooler than up near the top.

see i thought about making a "home made" one but going about differently, how would pvc pipe stand to the heat in a engine bay? i thought about getting a 4" wide pipe or something like size of the bpi flow stacks and just heating the tube up to bend it around the engine bay, like those huge ass carbon fiber ones...

Hey! Ya man crazy coincidences. I hope your new 4th gen project is going well! I don't know if you know but the lude was stolen 3, THREE days after I got it off you down in Eugene. Man it was the worst luck ever. I got it back a couple weeks later but it was in pretty rough shape inside and I know it was driven real hard. No body damage though. Insurance came through and it's pretty much all back together!

Re: New Air Intake!

The Fourth Gen is going well, but I got another car so I'm going to sell the Lude lol...NO WAY! That sucks so bad man! I can't believe it, well I can because it was in pretty good shape but still it is terrible that somebody would steal your car. Tough luck because the interior was the biggest plus IMO of the car. Take care of it, and hopefully it doesn't get stolen, ever again.
