91 Head unit and power antenna

New poster, just bought a sweet 91 SI AWS with 44K original miles! Never owned one before, and I'm pumped.

Anyway, forgive me if this has been discussed, but I can't find it. I did find the head unit install guide which is awesome. Question is, I have a power antenna and was wondering if I need an adapter for the antenna when I replace the head unit.

Any help is appreciated.

No the antenna's original plug should fit on most radio's. If not go down to a junk yard and look for one that'll fit and just snip and change. In S.A honda uses becker and grundig radio's so the male antenna plug fits the majority of after market head units.

Wow, 44k original miles. Nice find!

No, you don't need an adapter to use the power antenna. You only need an adapter if you use the rear window antenna.

Then you're the only one. Are you using the stock radio or aftermarket? The stock head unit has provisions for both antenna plugs, so you don't need an adapter if you are using the stock unit. But on every 3rd gen I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot of them), the plug for the window antenna is female. I don't know of any aftermarket head unit that has an antenna connection that will accept a female antenna plug. So to use the window antenna, you need an adapter to connect the female antenna plug on the wire to the female plug on the head unit.
