engine trouble 2.0 S 5 speed

ok heres the deal
its a 1989 prelude "S" model with carbs and 5 speed tranny

it has a hard/ no start condition , the ecu is throwing code # 10 air intake temp sensor

i can get the car to start only by pumping the HECK outta the gas pedal while cranking

at idle it sounds like it will die any second and it has a tapping noise (goes away when revved)

i have driven it a little it refuses to tach past 3500 rpms in any gear but in neutral it will tach to 4900 rpms then immedialty fall to 4000 rpms.

SO any clue as to what is wrong?????

btw the carb assembly as a whole can be moved around slightly not much just a lil

ok who here can help??????

ok i yanked the fuel line off the filter under the hood and as it appears no fuel is being spit out , so im thinking an intermitten pump is the fault here?

oh i got her to tach to 6000 rpms (when fuel is present of course)

and of course the fuel guage is not working

update

i just checked the fuel pump and it checks out fine

i took the car for a spin and seems to have the appropriate power and i got it to tach to 5200 rpms before stumbling

it seems that the "knock" was no more than valve clatter

the car gets better with every drive but i noticed that i need a new radiator, and possibly the carbs rebuilt

please feel free to post a reply , i know spme of you have atleast looked at my thread here , but so far im talking to myself

You're probably not "combusting" all the way, clean out those carbs as best as you can.

I dont have much experience with Carb'ed Ludes at all. PM Prelude85 for help as he's also carb'ed.

Try to source yourself the awesome, "weber" carbs.

I read they can yield up to 40+HP.

Code 10 is EACV...

Download the manual here:
Official 3rd gen Resource Thread

There is detailed instructions on how to service the Carb system.

Sorry to bum you out, not many here know about carbs...they're into the fuel-injection thing.
