Sleepy eye look.

Ok Uncle Buck directed me to another forum where i found this nugget of infomation:

""this is how you can get control for headlight height from inside without having to pop the bonnet.

remove the headlight control panel

now you will see 4 different coloured wires going to that flip switch. all have white stripes. Red, Green, Blue and Black.
Red+Green: when these touch together, they control the DOWN control of the headlights.
Blue+Black: when these touch together, they contol the UP movement.

What we basically need to do is stop the switch from completing the UP curcuit so we cut blue and black. This allows us control the amount of DOWN control via this switch and prevents the headlights going all the way up when u flash em.
put the panel back in.

These would be your new controls:
put the switch on "headlights up"
pull the steering wheel light control thingy (proper name anyone?) lightly so you flash your highbeams, but only do it for a small amount until headlights reach your desired height. dont let highbeams click in.
OR
turn lights on / highbeams. That makes the headlights pop up, flip switch no longer works.
keep the switch on "headlights up" when you turn the lights off, now quicky flip the switch to DOWN and back to UP. they should not go all the way down or go up. keep practicing untill you get the right point.

NB: When trying to get the lazy eye look with highbeam and switches, do it when the engine is on. otherwise they dont turn out even. ""

**Thanks to m1k30rz on Preludepwer.com**

WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE FOR ME TO SOMEHOW FIT A DIMMER SWITCH (LIKE THE ONE THAT DIMMS THE DASHBOARD LIGHT) TO MOVE THE LIGHTS UP AND DOWN. IM PRETTY SURE I COULD FIGURE IT OUT BUT IM ALSO PRETTY SURE I'D BREAK SOMETHING IN THE PROCESS. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

THANKS GUYS

Thanks to uncle buck for doing the research. Big help

Honestly "dano", Uncle buck dosn't mean to come off as an a-hole he is just very passionate about the things he discusses. He poped me once too, he really is only trying to be helpfull at any point and honestly if i did a bunch of research that someone asked me to do then they turn around and just ask someone esle it comes out as there blowing me off. If you really want that persons opinion bad enough to PM the crap out of them, follow their advice!!

Also its my understanding that when you post a how-to you need to get the writers permission to copy it and then post that persons name near the write up. Just for your info.

hmm yep tried that. nothing comes up at the moment. i'll have to keep looking. I thought of something the other day, if I do manage to get the controller, I'm not gonna be able to have the lights on with the sleepy eyes. I'm coming from the wrong place I think. I think I need to re-asess the situation.

I took the retra motor fuses out and did it by hand, and you could turn the lights on then and a friend was infront of me, he said it looked pretty good like that. I'm determined to get it now...

ok just a few things that strike that link to be odd.... 200sx?? um ya thats a FWD car and they have never had pop up headlights... they use a 240SX for pix... they dont even show a picture of the actual product.... and on top it all if you were to purchase the controller expect the wiring diagram to be completly messed up considering they are offering for the "200sx"....

Yeah true about no product picture but the 200sx has got flip up lights. The newer model (the s14) hasn't but the older model (s13) has. And i'm pretty sure that both s13 and s14 are RWD.

but how different can our wiring be?

hmm... yeah I thought they'd be different. Just didn't wanna admit it. Might have to bite the bullet and get one from US eBay. More expensive but at least i'll be able to do it.

Well First of all check the fuses in the engine bay. It'll say L retra motor. If thats not it It's probably the motor. Ask uncle buck how to do his light trick. He Might not want me telling everyone. Good luck though, I'd say get it if it's all sound apart from that. It's a damn good car.
