how do you run your power line for an amp? is there a way you can connect it to the car so when it's off the amp is off to?

run the power wire like normal.... from the battery to the trunk and to the amp..... but you need to pull your deck out and look for a blue wire (remote wire as they call it) and you need to run a small wire to the amp (remote).... basically the amp is always hooked up and the remote wire turns the amp on so it doesnt drain the battery...... hope it makes sence lol

Yes. The remote wire (12v power lead) will tell the amp when to turn off and on when the key is in the on position.

The main 12v (or hot) constant, is to keep memory for all of your settings, such as your channels, clock etc. If you hook the blue wire into a constant power source, it will remain on at all times....draining your battery.

I have a question.

I have some pretty nice Pioneer 6x9 Speaks in my Integra, but the Prelude has 6 1/2" holes I think. Question is, could I drill holes for the screws and then the bottom of the 6x9 would fit?

Anyone know? Thanks.

your honestly better off just sticking with what fits..... 6x9's are so out dated IMO... and also you wont have to worry about ruining the integrity of your car....

also are you talking the back window back lid or in the doors??? cus the doors might be tricky to clear the window when it rolls up and down

Well I was talking about the back window, but it doesn't matter.

I just wanted to be able to use the speakers I had, just because I wouldn't have to spend any more money and because they are really nice with the built in tweeters and everything.

But anyway, what I did end up doing was taking to crappy Roadmaster speaker box that I had free from a friend, and I just took the stock speaker out, then took the clip wires from the 6X9" and fused the wires from the speaker to the box outlet and now I just have to cut a hole in the box to fit the new speaker.

I am really excited because my car finally shakes like my Teg' used to. And that is only with the one speaker (without being fit into the box yet)

Thanks anyway for the help ^_^

its just my opinion.... and i say that because you can find more available out there for component setups in the 6.5" round vrs. the 6x9's.....

I agree... 6.5" components FTW... Components are the best solution because you can separate your highs from your mids/lows and aim them wherever you want for optimum acoustics.

you're putting roadmaster 6x9 boxes in a prelude?!?! Dude, just save some money and put some 6.5's in there so your not wasting power and riggin your system at the same time. powering a 6x9 with no back pressure at all is a quick way to blow it too. if your putting 6x9's in the trunk in boxes, you are doing the exact opposite of what those speakers are meant for. They are 3-way speakers b/c you are supposed to hear high and mid range frequencies with moderate mid-bass. Unless you are mounting the boxes on the rear deck??

Whoa whoa whoa, how do I get back pressure?

The speakers are Pioneer, and I am just using a box. I cut the hole to fit my 6x9 Pioneers and wired it and filled up with some cotton sheets.

What is wrong with that? It would be the same thing if they were mounted atop my rear seats wouldn't it? Bust just in a box that sits on the seats.

I am confused. And it I not like I have a huge amount of power or a lot of bass needed. They are just what I used to have and didn't want to waste them or spend money buying new speakers (yet)
This is just temporary by the way.

back pressure -->you said it wasn't fitted into a box yet but i think i just misread it. If the speaker is free floating, you run a hge risk of blowing it. when using the rear deck the trunk provides a solid amount of back-pressure as well as the boxes do.

Sorry man, I just have really high standards with car audio..I'm all about clean setups so naturally i was taken back when you said you're putting 6x9 boxes in a prelude. 6x9 boxes are usually designed for pick-up trucks and cars that do not have precut holes. not trying to be rude, just hoping that you keep your setup clean and have it sound good too.

What Gen do you have? I'm pretty sure 5th gens can take 6x9s in the rear deck... When in doubt, you can always head to crutchfield and search speakers by vehicle... It'll let you know what'll fit, and if not, what you need to buy to make it fit.

Lord does it sound bad though?

Because I am noticing a huge difference in what they sounded like mounted in my Teg than in the box.

No bass or power or as much sound.

you dont need cup holders if you are driving!!! but i have an audio question. when i bought my car there was a cdplayer in the back so i bought the necessary hook ups so i wouldnt have to cut stock wires. i tied all the wires together that had matches and it wont turn on or anything...so would it be more likely that the cdplayer is dead or that some wiring things are messed up. also there is a cluster of four wires seperate from the cdplayer wires so i dont know.
