up the b20a5 or replace? also...

I got a well maintained 89si b20a5 4ws but 300K on it runs good no probs at all yet... I want to boost it up but do the needed upgrades befor boosting... its been very well maintained but has it had enuff? Im surrounded by people saying to do all this stuff to it but its all spread out information I dont know where to start... Im gunna haul it around for now because i understand how much miles its suffered and its my only ride right now until i grab a junker soon... anyways should i throw money into cleanin up the engine like polishing n boring and so on? or start with a jdm b20a or h22a swap? i would like to use what i already got in her but want it to last for a long time.

Also i used to have a 3in cat back exhuast with a skunk2 megapower muffler on it with my current weapon r secrect intake... at 3500 rpms my intake sucked in a great deal of air sounding so beautiful and clean... since i got my exhaust all redone to 2.25 or 2.50 in piping and a custom goofeys muffler I dont get that surge of air or sound that I loved hearing what happened there?

So, you wanna go turbo, huh?

Have the engine health checked. Compression test, etc. The engine you have might be healthy enough to handle a wee bit of forced induction. However leaving the stocker in there and starting with a B20A allows you to build the engine to however a ballistic spec you desire and continue to drive the car. I've driven a H22 equipped 3g and think it is a swap that everybody who modifies a 3g should do. Having said that, a well sorted boosted B20 will generally be cheaper and far easier, and will probably make more power. As for polishing etc, it's your choice. If you think it's needed then go.
