Boosted F22 Idea

ok well ive been thinking and noticing that everyone swears that the H22 is all mighty god... well so of coarse naturally i think to myself "damn i want more power but thats just outragous"... a buddy of mine told me why waste my money on a H22 if a F22 is just as capable of kicking the snot out of the H22... so i do some research and walla to my amazement the F22 LOVES boost... so i start doing some math and i was like...."damn half the price and still kicks some butt!!" plus if later on i ever decide to upgrade to the H22 all i hafta do is change the wiring a little bit and the header and thats it!! so ya heres some math for my thoughts

motor $200
complete motor rebuild $560
Evo III 16g turbo $220 (purchased)
AZ motormounts $500
Axles $350+-
Porshe Intercooler $30 (purchased)
Piping Kit $70
12:1 FMU $80
450 DSM Fuel Injectors $175 (purchased)
Fuel Rail $20 (purchased)
Turbo mani $250

Total Build $2500with over 250hp easlily....

Price of H22 with swap is around 5g from what iam told... and at what 220hp?!?!

F22 kicking a H22's ass.....priceless

Thoughts?? Ideas?? or am i just stupid lol

ur on the right track i boosted my f22 but ur wrong in thinking all it would take is a new header and some wiring to get an H the f is a completely different engine. it is single overhead cam and no vtec, but ur right they have an 8 to 1 compression ratio which is better for boost and they are cheap if u blow them. what are u doing to rebuild the motor for only 560???

if you want your motor to last you'll ditch the FMU for a chipped ECU with crome or whatever and GET IT TUNEEDDDD!!!!! or else you'll blow the ish.
but if you know for sure that the F/H's do indeed drop into 3rd gens, then by all means go for it cuz as you found out, the F22's do love boost with their low compression and iron cylinder walls
and if you do happen to blow it, they're fairly cheap engines to replace (as opposed to H22's)

oh yea, why are you planning on axles?? are the 3rd gens POS's??
a fuel rail isn't too necessary either, a fuel pump woulda been money better invested.
you still need a BOV, and IIRC, 16g's are internally gated, so no need for a wastegate, correct?

Main bearings, Rod bearings, Thrust washers, Balance shaft bearings, Full gasket and seal set, Pistons, Piston Pins, Premium piston rings, Freeze plugs, Timing Belt, Oil pump and Push Rods....might go with new cam but thats later

ya i was kinda being a smartass when i said i didnt take much... but in retrospect it really doesnt.... i was more or less saying i can use the same motormounts, tranny, and axles....

i plan on getting new axles cus i really dont have much of a choice on the matter... i need outer from the prelude, inner from the accord ...because of the splines apparently....

i need a fuel rail since iam kinda missing one... oh and i musta forgot to add a fuel pump to that price... but ya i need that too

and not to sure on the wastegate and BOV and IIRC....

i just threw some numbers out there but still it would be the cheaper route then the H22....

get a better turbo instead of one from another car.like a gt turbo or a hybrid turbo like a t3/t4 (cheap $300 to 600 bucks)......

and after that, your set to go.

What transmission are you using with this f22a1?

When i had my Accord, i felt the f22a1 was a strong motor, torquey but low on horsepower. 8psi should change that quick...

I dunno, f22a1 in a 3g? it would be a classy build I have to admit, definetly unique and not popular.

transmission i wanna use.... preferably the H22 LSD, i hear they are longer gears and heavier duty

8psi?? ya maybe on a stock block and no rebuild... but after rebuilt should hold twice that no issue

as far as it fitting.... i dont see why they wouldnt fit, cus they have been dropping H22's in them now so i dont see why this would make it difficult to swap... i mean the H22 is by far bigger

and lastly... ya i thought this would be rather different myself and i thought it to be more of a joke then anything... but my buddy said save your money and not do the H22 since its so damn costly...that and replacement parts are hard to find in our are... i say this cus he has a GSR Integra with a H22 swap with ALOT of goodies on her.. but just to damn expensive to up keep.... so ya here iam with my build lol

SCREW YOUR BOOSTED F22!!! lmao. jk. But actually the H22 has the shortest gears, then the H23, then F22. Since you're boosting, I personally think you should stay with the F22 tranny. Long gears are a boosted engines best friend.

H22 has the shortest gearing, and its far bigger than what? the F22?

cuz they're the same displacement, aka size.

ok i got email confirmation on the rebuild kit... the internals are NOT forged...but either way a fresh motor should still be able to hold a decent amount of boost, so i might still go with that company unless i find something else

if ur going to boost u might as well do it right the first time it will be cheaper in the long run. Now that i have finally blown my motor its a full heads on rebuild. everyone has an h22, do something different join the good guys with the f22!
