B20 J-spec

ok well i thought about ordering a J-spec B20 Long block for my car, since i do need to pull my motor out anyways and do a complete rebuild on it, she is leaking oil like no other...so i thought to myself why rebuild it if later on iam just gonna pull the motor and drop a B20/B16 Vtec later on....so for the price on PasswordJdm.com they have the B20's for only $549 or two for $999, which iam gonna order two since the roomate wants the B20 vtec in his teggy...so iam pretty much asking has anyone bought the J-spec and did the install on there cars?? cus i know the intake manifold is huge compaired to the original...pros, cons?? anyone have info they would like to share before i do this?? thanks

B20A or what? I know the Japanese B20A is 10x better than our A5. Couldn't comment on a Japanese CRV B20 though

Uhh...the b20a and b20a5 is pretty much the same motor. Pk2.
Both have dual stage intake runners, both use pk2 ECU's...

b20a - 143hp - 127tq
b20a5 - 135hp - 127tq

Okay, so making it clear for you:

Prelude 1988-1991 = b20a, b20a3, b20a5, b21a(you will never find this), b21a1, b20a7, b20a9... all drop in, no problems.

Other B series, they all need custom mounts. You see how frekin` low our hoods are?!

B20b/b20z...ala Honda CRV. will not fit without major modifications.
You would need custom mounts, custom work to make those B series trannies work, chip a ECU with custom base maps(depending), obd0-obdI conversion(your car) and a pretty big wallet and aspirin for headaches.

edit2:NO one I know of makes mounts for those B series motors to fit.
Honestly, an Ls/Vtec setup would be insane in a 3g Lude. They would rape all lol!
But they are motors that are destined under the hood of a Teggy, Civic/CRX.
There is some karma about that, dont you agree Uncle? :surprised:

To save you a world of trouble, i would suggest you search for a JDM b20a They run (if you can find) around $500-800(excluding shipping). - look at the list i made: http://preludezone.com/showthread.php?t=1112

ok after reading what Prelude13 was saying in his post, iam better off just spending the extra bank and drop in a H22a...more power and looks like a common swap for the most part
