running unusually cold...

So about half an hour ago I decided to open the lude up a little bit and make it move...however after opening up the throttle on it...the temperature gauge gradually went almost all the way down from where it usually rests about about a quarter of the way up....When i restart the engine it will go back to a quarter but then almost immediately drop down...any ideas??

Re: running unusually cold...

thermostat may be stuck open, not exactly a bad thing, but makes it suck for heating purposes inside the cabin...

or you coolent level may be on the low side

Re: running unusually cold...

put a piece of cardboard or something in front of your radiator and that should keep it at normal temp if its running cold.

Re: running unusually cold...

Oh im serious haha. Thats what we do for a cheap fix in the winter in Canada. It gets cold enough that its about the only thing that you can do to keep the older cars blowin warm air. It doesnt hurt anything trust me. Its an old trick.

Re: running unusually cold...

ah ha, i see. i see the point of doing it, just didn't look at your location, lol. makes more sense to do it in canada as opposed to the states, especially the lower states. its not immediately dangerous, but over time running your motor at such cold temps do effect it. so i can see it as a temp fix if your strapped for cash or what ever. but still, get it fixed asap.

Re: running unusually cold...

yea no doubt its just a quick fix until you actually fix the problem. I need to do the same thing in mine. Right now im tryin to figure out how to start it though. I left it sittin for a week and tried to start it back up and it wont start. Im not sure if it is main relay because im pretty sure it is a spark issue. Any ideas would be appreciated.
