crx coils fit lude??

quick question for everyone with knowledge..... i have a 89 crx lying around and its got aftermarket suspension...now my main question is can i take the existing coilovers off the rex and install them on the 89 lude??? cus if i can save myself the extra cash i thought id ask around first before i attempt this...my buddy swears up and down that it can be done...well i dont wanna wast an afternoon and risk destroying two project cars...any input would be appreciated..thanks

I've nver even heard of doing that. Go for it and tell us. You'll at least get some respect for trying when no one else would if it doesn't work.

i doubt it works. car might site lower if it does cause of the weight difference of the crx and our lude. can try it and see what happens though

suspension parts from 94-97 accords (and SOME 98-02's) fit 92-96 ludes, so with any luck, they might fit.

but like gearhead said, if they fit, the lude will be lower. but thats the beauty of coilovers: just raise 'em up a tad.

idk bout the weight differences between 3rd gens and rex's, but if its > 500lbs (god i hate being an engineer ), the coilovers will be significantly softer on the lude

ya ill hafta figure out something since its not a direct bolt in....right now iam in process of moving and when that happens iam stepping down from one of my full time jobs and tackle some issues on the lude.....ill try the coils out and sand it all down and tackle some rust issues...iam tired of the weight reduction its an eye soar

Coil over sleeves will work. As for a complete strut? It will work, IIRC the shock body on the EF strut is slightly thinner, so you're going to have it jiggle slightly in the shock fork.

the trick is to use your switch on the dash...... rock it back and forth rather quickly.... soon as you see it working keep that pace going and walla.... i cant do it anymore since i snipped the wire for sleepy eyes...

as far as the coilovers go...i ended up using the CRX slip over coilovers (maxispeed or something) but ya i just used my spring compressor, pulled the coil out and droped them back in.... now its CRITICAL that you put the big washer back on (if not the strut just wont work, it ruined my hood from shooting up into it) also put both the rubber bushing back on (should be one on top and one on the bottom) if not it sounds like something is just rattling around in there....(yes another mistake by me lol)

I don't think i would do this one Uncle Buck. The spring rate is entirely different. Be careful with this one
