Driving by the new local Honda dealership I stopped in and asked what it would cost to do an alignment on my 4ws 3g(car has 130,000 miles) They told me $135.00 for alignment, balancing and rotating. I decided to get it done. Seemed like a fair price. I was able to watch the mechanic do the work from the waiting area which over looks the service area. He had the rear lock tool and seemed to really take his time and checked things twice.

After he was done i got to speak to him briefly. He said that I needed a lot of suspension work. Said the CAs where shot and boots were tore on the rear. Said probably $2000.00 worth of work.

Well since I am now an out of work for the winter golf instructor, that ain't gonna happen.So I am hoping to do some if not all of the work myself.

After reading the End All Bushing thread at Preludepower.com I have decided to order the Prothane PT8 907 (2) for the lower and PT8 213 (2) for the upper CA

I am assuming when he said they where shot that its the bushings and not the metal arms themselves (hopefully) It doesn't seem to be that hard of a job other pressing the old ones out. Is it just a matter of removing the wheel and be able to take both CAs off ?

Also when he refers to the "boots" what exactly was he talking about? Ball joint bushings? tie rod ?
Any help would be appreciated.

lol trust me, i wouldn't worry about the ca's untill you change your suspension again

The only way a CA can be "shot" is if the ball joints are worn. Or if you hit a curb or a wall and it's total fubar, but I don't think that's the case with you.

So what you guys are saying is just get the bushings replaced in the CAs and check ball joints

old cars= replacement of parts..
especially suspension

by boots hes talking about any of the rubber covers on the ball joints, tie rods, axles, steering rack, and anything else with similar rubber covers....its up to you to check them and find out which ones are ripped. Def. do the work yourself, you'll probably save about $1500

haha well the sad thing about replacing all of that stuff is that you're probally going to need another alignment after you put the new stuff on... if you plan on lowering the car or doing any kind of suspension work i would suggest just ordering the parts here and there and when you have everything ordered then do it all at once

Well after inspecting myself the front right CV boot is tore and the the bushings on the upper CA are shot. The rear especailly, the one has about inch of play .
