HELP with an 87 SI

I am buying a one owner prelude si with 227k miles on it. Completely stock but it isn't currently running. It needs a battery, fuel injectors reinstalled and possibly a fuel pump the owner was't sure. It is the automatic version as well. I have never had one of these and do not know anything about them. Owner said the car was running great until the issue with the fuel pump now the car has been sitting close to two years. I guess my question is where do I start and what maintenance should I do on the car before I try to do anything else. I would greatly appreciate some direction on this. Thanks!

It is difficult to know 100% what needs to be done until you have the car and really get into it. That being said you will be well off to perform the basic maintenance on the vehicle i.e. oil change, check plugs and wires, tune-up, check the t-belt (when was it changed last?). The basics will be the start beyond the fuel problems that you know about.

Also I forgot to mention that you will want to pay attention to possible leaks. When a car sits that long it is possible that the gaskets, seals, etc. dry up and crack. Be ready to potentially replace some of those because of the time that it sat.

Do you have any suggestions as far as the transmission is concerned? It is completely stock and I'm not sure it's been serviced.

Re: HELP with an 87 SI

probly just a drain and fill until you get it running and see if there is any issues with the tranny.... i would drop the gas tank and clean it out and if it was for sure a problem with fuel delivery change that pump.... and then step by step check fluids and flush them if possible... whenever you have fluids sit for a long time in a car chances are the properties that make up those fluids that let them do there job inside the car have broken down... so your better off flushing each system and then getting it running to see how it runs and go from there... its gonna take some time and money so be patient and try not to give up on it to easily. to many of these cars are discarded and abandoned and ruined forever... that being said if you decide to part it out let us know lol.... i got first dibs if you still have the stock stereo!

Re: HELP with an 87 SI

Well I just need to sell the prelude I posted about a year or so ago. I don't have the time or honestly the knowledge to do it. I'll just copy and paste my ad. I have no clue what the car is worth so thats why I'm posting it on here and I'd like to see it go to some who will appreciate it.
"I have a one owner Honda Prelude SI for sale. It is an automatic transmission, power windows, power locks, moon roof and they all work perfectly.
Fresh oil change with full synthetic
Fresh tranny fluid change
New battery
New fuel injectors
New spark plugs
New Distributor
New ECU
New Fuse board and fuel relay
New fuel pump
New air filter
All electrical components work: power windows, locks, sun roof, air blows and radio works.

The car has been sitting for a number of years and has not been on the road except being started occasionally so the car is being sold as is."
