Re: 1985 Carb

I don't have a lot of experience with carb'd honda cars, but there are marks on the carbs on my 1971 honda motorcycle

Re: 1985 Carb

could be stamped on to the fuel bowl or the base of the carb near the manifold.

Re: 1985 Carb

Thanks for the reply. The hand stamp is 500DYE that I can read in that area. Based on the info I have, this does not match any Keihin code. The Keihin codes I can find are alpha numeric such as CB91C or VF05A or ED07A. Honda seems to have changed carbs part way through the model year and my VIN will not register with the specific carb through the dealership system.

Lurk this old honda .com 85...

Re: 1985 Carb

The car is an original '85 with 43,000 km or 26,000 miles on it. It was stored for 6 years without running. I have done all the base work, plugs, cap, wires, coil, fuel filter, new thermostat, new vacuum hoses etc. I have ran through 3 tanks of premium fuel with Lucas fuel treatment.
It is running better but the only grief thing is it stalls when taking off from a stop unless you feather out the clutch. The next thing is to rebuild the carbs if they do not respond better at low idle. This is why I am trying to establish the carbs before breaking them down, to ensure I can get the correct parts.
