carb upgrade

I picked up a prelude DX on craigslist for $800 a year ago and man this thing is slow. I'm curious on how difficult it would be (if possible at all) to do a carburetor upgrade. If anyone has anyone has info lemme know!

Re: carb upgrade

It'll always be slow by todays standards. Especially if you figure on staying with the natural aspiration.
The prelude was conceived as a handling car, not a rocket ship. They were built for cornering with better speed than most so a bunch of torque wasn't required when entering the straightaway of a road course.

Check out this old honda for more info on the 2g potentials.

Why, webers of course!

If you can afford it, and can find a mani for them.... Or have one made.

Re: carb upgrade

I know it's been done in the past.

A little searching found that Redline advertises a kit for "79-84 Preludes" for the "16-valve 1.6 liter ET". The 1st gen engine is coded EK1. The ET2 (aka A18A1) is the engine in all twin-carb '84-'87 Preludes, but it's 1.8 liters and 12 valves. Might be worth spending some time on the phone with them and figuring out ground truth...then tell the rest of us!
