How to remove air cleaner assembly?

So, I'm replacing my alternator, and I have the alternator unbolted and ready to be lifted out. But, I don't know how to remove the air filter assembly. I have the air filter cover off and the air filter itself, but how do I remove the whole assembly? ie: the flange piece that the air filter cover clamps to.

Lol, 2 first posts, anyway

Not familiar with 2nd gens, but design was simpler back then than it is now. Only 2 ways I've seen them installed is a few bolts, clamps, etc. look around real good, wiggle it a little, get a feel by wiggling or pulling gently to see where it's not lifting, and search in that area for the bolt/clamp

Thanks. I tried this, and it ended up being two bolts at the bottom. Had to get under the car to take them out.

Re: How to remove air cleaner assembly?

Saw an 85 @ the junkyard today with motor still intact. I thought of this thread.
The air cleaner was definitely not one of Hondas better ideas.

How freaking big is the air filter? The carby cover looked like it was bigger than the spare tire!!

But if I weren't so deep into 3rds I'd be all over a second gen restore. That's a nice little car.
