We just bought a 87 SI and are doing some work to it. Luckily it was in better condition then the last one (a 89 auto and tons of problems for $800) There has only been three owners before us otherwise we might not have bought it. We have discovered it needs new shocks/struts. Usually we have a bad habit of going to Autozone and just picking up whatever they have there. But with the last prelude we really liked the performance of the ride because of the aftermarket add ons (probably the only good thing about that car was the suspension) I am looking for advice on what everyone else has on theirs and if anyone has good advice. This is going to be a work in progress I for see for a few years. Currently we are just getting the basics done but I don't want to get the usual set from a parts store and then find out I would have a better ride with another set.

Re: New member with a 87

Welcome to the forum, you joined up in the right place to get some good advice on that car-there's some very knowledgeable 3rd gen Prelude guys on here that can help you with just about anything. Unfortunately I'm not one of them, so while we're waiting for them to chime in, be sure to use the search box up top and check out the DIY section for sure.

And share some pics of your new car! Congrats on the purchase, can't wait to see what you do with it.

Welcome aboard.

Congrats on your purchase.

The second gen is getting harder to find anymore. We'd love to see pix.

Unfortunately 2nd and 1st gen sections don't get the traffic like 3rd 4th n 5th does. We are fans of the early ones but when we see posts we're like 'woah, good luck there' like 87 back all have a contagious disease or something.
But be patient with your quests for info. It's mostly older folks who own them and they spend their time driving, fixing or working and don't spend lots of time on forums.

A fella named Jamie is the house doctor. He bought one new and knows his way around your model pretty well.

Careful...it's been over 20 years since I had that car...it's not like I can run out in the garage and look at things like I can the '92. :)
