2Gen parts crossovers

I know that the Accord uses the same engine as the Prelude (1.8L dual carb) and i was wondering if any of the parts can be used on the prelude. Apparently they're rated at 110hp whereas the preludes 100hp, wondering if i can get the same gains without an engine swap. Thanks!

Re: 2Gen parts crossovers

I don't remember any Accord having a dual-carb setup. JDM cars had a trick 3-barrel carb that produced extra power -- that and the accompanying intake manifold would probably net you same results.

Re: 2Gen parts crossovers

Apparently the 1986-1989 Accords had the A18 in them. Im getting this information from Wikipedia so maybe its incorrect. :P

Re: 2Gen parts crossovers

Accords did share the A18 with the Prelude, but with a single carb.

Re: 2Gen parts crossovers

The math tells me that was your first. What color was it?
A friends girlfriends sister had a silver one with am/fm CASSETTE... that was the $h!t baby.

Silver, just like the '92 that came after. Spent lots of time in that car.

Re: 2Gen parts crossovers

3G accords and preludes share the same motor/gearbox and drive terrain and nothing else even the suspension also the rear engine mount and rear crossmember is different

The carb accord motor uses a downdraft carb while the prelude uses side drafts some of the accords had higher comp motors but the gearboxes were never as good as the ludes as they had closer ratio's it is even possible to create a teggy/lude hybrid gear box let me know if you want more info on this

But as with all when looking for parts make sure its the same as yours as the different year models have slight changes here and there as you get et/es motors(early a18) and the later a18a the oil squirter was changed so check first

best of luck
