2.0 si head swap

Hello, without reading all previous posts, I believe I have a crack in my #2 chamber on my 87 si. I will probably have to replace the head, so....are there any easy swaps that will add a noticable hp gain? Thanks, Steve

Re: 2.0 si head swap

I hear that you can swap a late a18 head on the a20 to get a bump in compression. But then you'd be stuck with a carbed intake mani and stuff....
I have no personal experience doing this though

You're pretty much stuck with another A20 head...although IIRC the Accord A20 heads were the same (A20A3/A4). If you went the A18 head route, you would have to put on a different fuel pump due to the difference in psi for carbs vs fi. But you could then get rid of the pgmfi stuff altogether then...and yes the A18 head would give you a little bump in hp due to the smaller chambers which gets you a little higher compression. I'm actually in the middle of building a BT bottom end and putting the A18 head from my original DX engine on it...

Nice! What would a BT bottom end with an A18 head and some webers be like?!

2 words.....freakin awesome! I drove a friend's 2g, his has the same setup as mine pretty much (Delta 282 cam, Bisimoto adj cam gear, no emissions - God bless Montana lol), but the big difference between his and mine...I have the stock carbs slightly modded, he has twin Solex carbs. Night and day! The Solexs pulled so much harder in the midrange than mine did. And his wasn't even all dialed in right yet! So a BT/A20 block bored .5mm, the A18 head with a little port work, and Webers or Solexs is just plain badass... ;)
