Fuel pump relay location

I have a 1987 Si. I've been having some starting issues. Sometimes it starts. When it does it runs fine. Most of the time it doesnt start. Seems like the colder it is outside the better chance i have of the car starting. The car will usually crank right for 2-3 seconds...then die out. Then if you continue to try and start it you wont even get another 2-3 second run time. It wont fire over at all. But, on some cold starts it will fire right up and ill never have a problem with it until i turn the car off. If it runs for more then those three seconds your good to go.
I am hunting down possibilities. Where do i find the fuel pump relay? How many prongs does it have? I came up with a search saying left of steering wheel behind fuse box. There are three relays back there. One power window, a small grey one, black one with a hole on it, and a main relay. I also read that the main relay might be the fuel pump relay as well. Not sure if those suggestions were accurate though.

Re: Fuel pump relay location

After searching around sounds like the main relay is the problem. I have located that. I was just used to looking for a actual fuel pump relay. I found warrantied main relays on ebay. I'll know if it does the trick in around 5 days.

Yep, the fuel pump relay is inside of the main relay. Someone once advised me that the main relay... dies because the fuel pump is getting tired, and is drawing to much extra current. I don't think this is true though, because I've seen plenty of relays replaced with success, haha. Just a thought

You can save yourself some cash if you have/know how to use a soldering iron. Pop that ****er open and resolder the points. It's worth a try!
