meguiar s ultimate compound for Faded 1987 honda prelude..???

I was Wondering if this is the best out there to restore red faded paint and well i don't really have a picture up right now since my camera wire is somewhere around the house but it looks orange from the hood and trunk and some bottom part of doors... i was wondering if this compound would do the trick if not what would..? it looks something like the picture below.. any advice and tips would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Car looks alot like the bottom pictures.

Are you trying to restore faded paint or remove oxidation that makes the car feel like sandpaper? I don't think you can fully truly restore old paint but you can try a clay bar to smooth it out and then wax it.

Re: meguiar s ultimate compound for Faded 1987 honda prelude..???

I use it on mine a few times a year. The first two pics are from my phone, that's why it looks orange. But the reflections are of clouds and trees :D

The third pic- the top half doesn't have it done, the bottom half does. I use it because I have no clear coat, and I can't use paste wax because it just streaks, so this strips the oxidation away pretty well and then I use a liquid wax to protect it as good as possible, til I get a paint job with a clear coat.

i dont think it is going to make your orange car red again no, it will make it shiny and clean though

Re: meguiar s ultimate compound for Faded 1987 honda prelude..???

its not really about the brand of compound you use its how you use it. I recommend using a buffer to get the best results of any brand compound hand waxing will only get you so far. We have used Turtle wax rubbing compound on a 91 f150 and 96 achieva and they restored the paint on both of them. So its up to you on how you use any compound.

Re: meguiar s ultimate compound for Faded 1987 honda prelude..???

go buy a buffer and then return it when ur done lol, bit of a hassle but if u get it from like some big store where they have younger ppl working they most likely wont check in detail if u used the buffer lol, ive done it before with "canadian tire" never even asked for my name or anything for the return...
oh btw i use meguires everything lol i start with ultimate wash and wax soap, then smooth surface clay kit then ultimate compound, then ultimate polish and finish off with tech wax 2.0. removes any swirls i have and the car its incredibly smooth, i do it all by hand when im bored but machine it when im in a rush but need it clean.. by hand take me 6hours.. lol
