Ok I was wondering if anyone had any info on converting my PowerSteer to ManuelSteering. I had the parts cross referenced but the only thing I was able to find is that any model Prelude between 83-87 would work. So I bought one and it doesnt line up to the mounting brackets on the frame. And it seems to me that it is to narrow any how. I really need to get my car running, and this is the only things that is keeping me from driving, getting anxious. Is there another make model that may fit? Or could I use a power steering rack, and plug the holes for the lines. All the power steering stuff is pulled as well the pump, lines, and resivoir. Idk need some feedback though.

I believe only 83s had manual steering optional, but that may vary depending on region. Also not for sure , but most likely the Si rack is slightly different from the base model, which is likely why your replacement doesn't fit. Your best bet is to use the power rack and plug or loop the lines.

I did a how to some time ago...
HOW TO: Power to manual rack - Honda Prelude Forum : Honda Prelude Forums

If you plan on plugging everything you can follow that and just remove all the lines and plug everything at the rack. Alternately, you can keep the innards of the rack fully intact and loop the fluid lines. Also, some people claim success with running the lines to a small reservoir mounted near the rack.

Re: 1987 SI Rack and Pinon

The '83 was the last Prelude to have manual steering standard, and optional power steering. Honestly, it's not worth converting to manual steering -- I've driven an '83 with a manual rack, and the steering's no better; just heavier. The power system is speed-senstive, so by 30-35 mph, it's dialed out anyhow -- you're only boosted at low speeds.
