86 prelude si Intake Help plz

Hi I just joined this forum looks pretty friendly, im a noob when it comes to installing things in cars and such so dont hate .... lol

I just got this 86 lude like 2 months ago and my homie had an extra spectre short ram intake so i decided to install it since it was free anyway :P

So i install everything fine but i was stumped on what to do with this which was attached with two screws to the old air filter box (see Pics)

Am i suppose to close them off sumhow or do they plug in somewhere else now?

Again yea im a newb but gotta learn sumwhere

Re: 86 prelude si Intake Help plz

I personally don't have A/C in my prelude. (Cold here) So what I did was take the bottom hose in the first pic, along with the part on the other end of that hose(A/C idle boost) out, and stuck a bolt where it used to be in the manifold. Then i just took a longer hose and hooked the other one (Idle control solenoid valve) to the air intake.

It's kinda lame because it makes a really annoying sound when that idle control solenoid valve kicks in, haha.

I have in the past just stuck a hose on that box and connected it to the intake. While it was quieter that way, i just didn't like it. You could also just put a breather filter on the small box if you want.

The two hoses are only hooked into the air intake so that they don't suck in unfiltered air. So really if you want you can just leave it hangin' there like that. But it might plug something up in the future.
