Icon5 Reverse light panel take apart?

i have an idea for the plastic bar that says "PRELUDE" across the reverse ligth panel and i dont need the mouning bracket on the back, i would rather just pop the plastic piece off that appears to be glued on. i was wondering if there was a way to heat up the paste so that i could just pull it off without cutting and hacking into the thing

is it like the headlights, where if baked at 300 would it just seperate, or would i have a glob of plastic sitting in my oven?

Re: Reverse light panel take apart?

Use a heat gun around the edges and very slowly and carefully you can get it apart. Go slow or you are likely to crack it.

Re: Reverse light panel take apart?

I actually didn't use a heat gun, I actually used a propane bottle torch but a heat gun is the same principle. I had to be extra careful to not melt the crap out of my center section. But as long as you take your time and be careful it can definitely be done...

Re: Reverse light panel take apart?

When it came to putting it back together, I used weatherstripping adhesive. Lots of it. lol
