What engine?

i have two engines and i'm just wondering input from other people.

- bt engine

-a20a1

The a20a1 specs come up saying that it is carburated but mine is fuel injected is this possible?

Just looking for input thanks

Re: What engine?

I would say that you could probably use the fuel injection components off of the a18. Don't hold me to that but you are right the a20a1 only came with a carb in the us.
They did make an a20a that was fuel injected, i'm guessing a "jdm" engine so they could have used the fuel injection parts off of it as well.

Re: What engine?

The A20A (aka BT) engine in the 2d gen Prelude Si is fuel injected. Could be a carb version for the Accord, but the twin-carb engine in the 2d gen Prelude is an A18A (aka ET2, if I remember right...the file's on the backup disk).

The a20a3 is the FI motor that goes in are ludes. So are you asking what motor to go with because thay are the same motor the BT is out of a older first gen and the a20 is newer. If it was me I would stick with the carbs, for me thay are a little more tuner friendly because you don't need chips or computers. I'm runnin the a18a with side draft carbs and I love it.

Fixed :)

Probably more information than you want to know: Honda changed engine nomenclature in 1987. That system is still in use -- the first letter indicates the engine family (A), the number is the displacement (20 = 2 liters), and the final letter indicates the variant (A), and the final number usually indicates variation in fuel delivery or emissions setup. Even this system is deceiving at times...there are several different B20 engines, for instance, not all related to one another (at least, not clearly). Ditto F-series -- the F20A in some European Preludes isn't the same family as the F20C in the S2000, and neither appears to be related to the F22 engines found in many Preludes and Accords.

Re: What engine?

okay i should of explained it better. i had a enduro race car that is an 1986 and it has the bt engine in it. i just picked up another prelude which is also an 86 and it has the a20a1 engine which is suppose to be carburated but mine is fuel injected. and the engine has a knock. So im wondering if it is worth rebuilding the a20a1 or find a bt cause it has more horsepower. and also how is it possible to make a carburated engine into fuel injected?
