New to the community just purchased my first lude :) it's an 84 will post pics soon. Curious as to why the 2nd gen is the best? Fill me in. Thanks in advance.

Because it doesn't weigh much, has good punch for a 1.8 liter, steers very well, shifts better than any other 'Lude I've driven (everything other than a 1st get), and is just generally fun to drive and easy to look at.

I had an '84 for eight years...I'd cheerfully buy it back.

congrats on the lude. you'll def be enjoying it. i have an 86 Si but the earlier carbed ludes were even more fun and nimbler.

thanks alot guys, im so excited. just waiting to get it legal, first ride will be on the 11th. i already have a wicked list of custom mods i plan on doing :) the only unfortunate thing i can see so far is there isnt alot of perfomance mods. any suggestions?

There was never a large aftermarket supply for 2d gens -- especially the earlier cars -- to begin with, and much of what used to be is gone now. Offers up opportunities for custom engineering, though...what do you want to do?
