Scott is on a distinguished road

Ok, I'm rebuilding a '86 Prelude Si. It had 278,000 miles, but it still had plenty left if it hadn't spun a bearing. I've decided to put a little bit of money into it rebuilding and making it better, I'm not looking to pay a fortune. I starting with the basic stuff, headers, reman. crank, pistons and rings, rods, and probably porting the head too. Oh, and a tranny rebuild for the 5-speed too. Thinking about shaving the head a few thousanths. I've helped buddies rebuild some V8's, but this is my first solo rebuild. I'm looking for help on where the best places are to find these. Can I get forged internals? Can I buy oversized pistons if I bore it, and is it really worth boring it? Also, what is the flow on the stock injectors? How much flow can I go before it's too much? I don't know much about the head, is it something that I can tackle on my own? Is there anything else that I can do? I need help.

Re: Rebuild

I have the same car.. i only know a few answers to your questions. The stock have 214cc, on mine i put injectors from a ml mercedez benz that have 483cc. On the pistons, they are 83.5mm pistons and also they're low compression so i run mine with nos. u can use arias pistons with engle rods but thats going to run for about $1000 or more becuz they will be custom made so what i did is notched them... Port and polish is a must on the head and the intake manifold. Other things i used were hastings chome pistons rings, acl racing series rod bearings and and arp rod bolts... i only ran it with nos 2 times n the tranny just give out so its a goo idea for u to rebuild the tranny
