'86 Prelude - rear struts sagging - fix???

Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post, I have an '86 Prelude 2.0 si and the rear struts are sagging causing uneven wear on the rear tires. I assume this is caused by the coil springs being weak/shot. Where can I get replacements? All I see for sale is lowering kits/springs and I just want stock replacements without spending a bunch of money... or if anyone knows of a low-bucks fix maybe... If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

If you want OEM on a budget, check out yer local salvage yard... You might get lucky... A pic of this would be nice too... Never seen a sagging strut before... Springs typically dont go bad...It is an old car so it is possible the tension has weakened. When was the last time you replaced the shocks or got an alignment??

Thank you for the reply, I don't have much in the way of salvage yards near me so I was in hopes of finding some inexpensive aftermarket springs... when you view the car from the back, the rear wheels are sitting like this: // \\ and the tires are wearing badly on the inside. (I need to get batteries for my camera and can't post pics at the moment) I've checked the mounts and bushings at the top of the struts, they're in good condition. The struts seem to have good dampning action and don't seem to be worn out so I'd rather not replace them if I don't have to. I just assumed the springs were sagging from age and causing the problem. New struts would'nt come with springs anyway would they?

Re: '86 Prelude - rear struts sagging - fix???

Yeah thats most likely an alignment issue. If the mounts are good the aligment has got to be the issue. Maybe a loose or broken tie rod/s. I know you wanna keep yer money expenditure low, but, unfortunately suspension is one of those things that doesnt really come cheap when something happens to it...Best bet would be to take it to a shop to get it sorted out... And to answer yer question, Yes Struts come with springs as they are consisdered one unit... Shocks use springs as a separate unit, typically they do not come with springs, unless you buy them as a shock/spring set...
