My wife's birthday present

So....it's got a bit of body cancer, but is in pretty darn good shape otherwise.
What do y'all think??
104,000 original miles. She is now the second owner.

Sorry guys - just realized where I posted this. Feel free to move it if needbe. My bad.

Man, looks like someone took real good care of that car. Got me wishing mine looked that good. I have the same model, same color.

Re: My wife's birthday present

I'll have to take some more pics and post them...the right side is a little rough in a couple of spots, but I think I've got a line on someone who might be able to fix it up.

07, I thought I'd seen you post about your SI. Have you had a chance to work on the front end?

Re: My wife's birthday present

"...oh wow....thankssss...honey...an old rusted car.." LOL I'm just kidding. As long as she's into cars that's a great present. That's super low miles and appearantly well taken care of. Give'er a lil TLC and it should be a cherry. Congrats.

Sorry...didn't give you guys the back story here...this is (minus the non-functional luggage rack) identical to her 1st car, so there are a TON of great memories here. I've heard soooo many great stories about that car - how much fun she had, trips she made, etc. so I HAD to find her one for her "significant" birthday yesterday. Took a good bit of doing, but I did.
We'll get it back to better condition eventually.
She flipped when I took her into the garage and gave it to her.

Re: My wife's birthday present

Very cool! Its cool to hear stories like that. I know I always look back at things I did in hs and think "man, if only I could go back" to have a piece of that must be pretty special. Those days aren't too long ago but responsibilities have put those things to the way side.

Re: My wife's birthday present

Yeah I've done a little work on mine but not a lot. Have to work all the damn time. I found a brand new grille online , just ordered the corner lights on ebay 2 days ago, got the light in the bumper that was broken, ordered the hood from a salvage yard and it should have shipped yesterday or the day before. I still have to find a front bumper cover because mine is cracking in one corner but you cant see it until you get real close up on it. So hopefully I will be able to put most of the front end together on a day off next week or next. Speedometer is working but kinda jerky so I'm gonna get a cable eventually. Got my sunroof drains unclogged , so no water in the back floor anymore. Pulled the lock out of the dash and had a new key made from the code on it so now my key works in both doors. Still have the backseat pulled out because there is a leak somewhere in the trunk and somewhere around the back seat. Rewiring the cd player and replacing speakers because only one speaker is working. found the little plastic piece to put in place of the factory EQ, found some small trim pieces, and other random stuff in the salvage yard. Still trying to figure out what I want to do with the seats. Plan to start replacing all the belts and hoses and stuff next month and have to replace the power steering pump while I'm doing that. Running good though. Ready to get the body together and do some tune-up stuff so I can start driving it some while I work on it. I think all my friends think I'm dumb for being so excited about fixing up the old prelude, they all like the new civic better. Kinda the same story with me. I just have some many memories in the car of learning to drive on it, taking it to the beach when I was younger etc etc.

Funny story...that plate was actually on her 1st lude - then on a couple other cars she had. I ordered the same one from SC to put on it. Didn't get here in time, tho. Still, it was available and that was the challenge!

Yeah, her first one was IDENTICAL to this one (minus some of the rust of course) except hers had a luggage rack on the trunk. Why, I'll never figure out - it's not like you coulda put anything on there!! I posted a pic of her original "baby prelude" from her scrapbook w/this post. These were taken in the mid 90s.
