Really bad gas mileage

I was figuring out my mileage and im getting 12 mpg. Apparently the previous owner dumped a can of octane booster in the tank ands in been getting bad mileage ever since. Any ideas on why?

Re: Really bad gas mileage

is your air filter clean?
does your fuel filter have less than 25000 miles/or about that equivalent in km's?
Is your check engine light on?
is the o2 sensor still good?

Re: Really bad gas mileage

Well the air filter is brand new.
I have no check engine light on.
I have no clue about the fuel filter. I just bought the car a month ago.
And i dont know about the O2 sensor.
Could a dying fuel pump be the issue too?

Hahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!^

Dying fuel pump probably not (if you not getting enoguh fuel your car would hesitate), you have a simple problem it sounds like,
First is your gas tank rusted so that gas can get out?
Check all parts required for a tune up. (plugs, wires, filters, etc)
Are you driving with a LEAD foot?
Run Seafoam throguh the Crankcase (where you add oil), in to the throttel body, and in your gas, (cleans your motor from slime
Change your oil

Re: Really bad gas mileage

well good luck with finishing that up.
If the car runs fine, it maybe just need some tune up parts. Depending on what they look like...
How does the inside of the valve cover look? neglected??

Re: Really bad gas mileage

Ive been doing some research and i think it might be the fuel pressure regulator. The vacuum hose does smell like fuel(apparently its not supposed to according to my research), im getting poor fuel economy, I do get black smoke from the tail pipe(mainly when i start it up) and it does idle rough when i start it up in the morning. Apparently a bad FPR can cause a fuel pump to make wierd noises and it has been humming.

Re: Really bad gas mileage

Well I got my gas mileage back. But now the car has an intermittent sputter. Could that be caused by a carbon buildup?

Re: Really bad gas mileage

Dude I am having the same problem. I am getting about 190+ miles to a tank. I just picked up an O2 sensor today. The guy at auto zone told me i have two. Is this true? I just picked up this car about a month ago. I have replaced the plugs, (i just got some wires today also) cap, rotor, FPR, and fuel filter. I cleaned my Idle Control Solenoid Valve and my EGR with seafoam. I am not throwing any codes so I am at a loss. I dont really know much about hondas.
