Possible clutch problems?

Recently it seems like my clutch has started slipping but it tends to only do it on long drives. When i hit the gas pedal the revs go up but with no increase of speed. Like when i drive to edmonton(30-45 mins away). And it only seems to do it at highway speeds too. Could the clutch be the problem or could i end up looking for a new tranny? Any help would be great.

And if it is the clutch would it be beneficial to go to a stage 1 or a stage 2 racing clutch given the time it takes to put it in?

Re: Possible clutch problems?

Another question...is it possible to check the clutch lining without actually taking it apart?

Re: Possible clutch problems?

Did you recently replace your clutch master cylinder? Keep an eye out on the fluid in the reservoir. Usually, what you described in post #1 happens after one replaces a clutch master cylinder. I always advise to adjust the clutch pedal after an install of that sort: http://preludezone.com/showpost.php?...9&postcount=11

Nevertheless, it could be a real sign that your clutch is slipping. Highway speeds heat up the disk a lot faster.

Re: Possible clutch problems?

Well it cant be the clutch master cylinder because there isnt one. its a cable clutch. I suppose I should of mentioned that in the first post. Ill start by adjusting the cable and see where that goes. Is there a way to check how much is left on the disc surface without taking it all apart.

Re: Possible clutch problems?

^no, you're gonna have to crack open the transmission casing to look at the disc...but if you're gonna go through that trouble, you might as well replace the clutch :/

It will be better if you will change both clutch and transmission...

ah said like a true 2nd genner.

Keep the bell get some 1st gen teggy gears and slap em in there and you'll have some nice response to the wheels. Along with the racing clutch.

Re: Possible clutch problems?

For sure. I have some things i have to worry about then ill start building the lude up. Im hoping to put a B16 in there. the other thing is i dont really know much about building tranny's but that does sound like a good plan.
