87 SI Stalls Under Accleration

I have an 87 SI 5 speed 180K. The car starts and idles great! Under cold conditions (engine not warm) it runs great! Lots of power, runs strong and smooth.
Once it gets warm the car stalls under throttle, if you throw the throttle to the floor, it will gasp and die. I changed out the OEM fuel filter, the fuel pump is making quite a bit of noise, However, I donít want to shell out the 100 bucks or so for and experiment. There is no check engine light; the car drives great if you keep it at an idle!!! Any ideas?

It could be the Idle Air Control valve or bad EGR valve. Hope it gets you pointed in the right direction.

Ended up being the fuel pump after all. Finally just quit all together. It's a bugger to change out to.

What was so hard about it? I dont want to get it all apart and have to put it back together and drive to napa for some $2.00 part. I have replaced a few fuel pumps before. I even replaced one in a chevy 1500 without even taking of the feed and return lines, wedged between a drive shaft and a muffler. The fuel pump on these cars are not even in the tank what could be so hard about it?

the fuel pump itself was a breeze, it's the mounting plate that is the problem. You have to get it mounted back in just right so the pump doesnt bounce around. The clearance to get one particular nut back on is ridiculus. it can be done but patience ,patience is the key word. Set aside a good couple of hours to get it done.
