Bought an '87 Si

108000 miles. Unmodified. It's an automatic. I would have prefered finding a 5 speed but I really do need to stop using my other car ('03 Mach 1) for commuting. It's still got low miles and I'm trying to sell it to get the budget down to something more manageable. Having the fuel injection was a must, though. I had a 1988 accord a while ago and the carb was a pain to keep running right.

Not sure where to begin with mods. Anything I do will most likely be tasteful. I'm too much a stickler for clean original lines. I can appreciate it when someone has done a body kit well or has tricked out the interior well - it shows a lot of time, effort and attention to detail. Just don't want it on mine.

Will post pics this week.

Re: Bought an '87 Si

I also just bought an '87 SI. It's white-also an Automatic and has only 87,000 original miles. Very nice original car. I'm in Southern California and this car was originally from West Virginia. I worked for Honda from 84 to 88 then moved to Mazda where I retired from last September. Always loved the Prelude!
See attached photos. Enjoying the car allot!

Thanks.Yes-It's a great car and best of all-it's ALL original-all OEM Honda! see another photo attached. I just need a set of front Mud flaps( missing drivers side front) to complete it.

Anyone out there have a set of Sheepskin seat covers that fit a 1987 Prelude SI? Prefer Black.

The white paint must of been Honda's most durable color. I have an '86 which looks exactly like that one (except I have factory pin stripes) and the original white paint is in excellent condition. Those are wonderful cars. Definitely a keeper. So you have 87,000? I am happy to report I have almost exactly twice that and it still drives like new so you should get many years of enjoyment out of it, I plan on getting years out of mine.

I have always wondered what those 4WS cars were like when something went wrong. I had a friend in high school whose parents bought one when they were new and it ended up being his car throughout college and afterwards. I was not aware of him having any problems with it. Oddly enough it had the metallic gold (Honda for some reason called it silver) but managed to keep it's clear coat.

I may look for one a little later. I don't think I'll give mine up as it is such a good little car and on the e-pinons site, most of the people who used to have one, really regret ever selling it. Apparently the lady who had mine bought it new. I could not imagine having a car for 23 years then selling it. It would be like a family member by that time.

Welcome to PZ!

Nice Si bro. I'm sure since you have the mach the prelude is goin to be a basic daily driver with a couple of small mods. I want pictures of the mach too

and my neighbor drives a 03' Svt thats like 630 or 635 whp and he just bought a 3rd generation lude as a daily so your not the only one.

Well keep us updated and I want more pictures.

Re: Bought an '87 Si

I just bought a 87 lude with 310,000kms and it still runs like it did when it came from the factory. Hondas are great cars....the best you can buy. Absolutely no rust but there is a little body damage on the front but its all cosmetic....no structural damage. So for $500 its a steal
