82 Prelude VERY low miles

While renovating a home where the owner recently passed away, I came across a red 82 Prelude with 34,000 miles. The interior is red and it has a huge sunroof. All looks original and based on the fact that the owner died at 100 and hadn't driven it since 2012, I'd say the mileage is accurate (it's also been garage kept so the inside and out are in very good condition with no fading). Having it checked out by a mechanic tomorrow but assuming all is ok, any suggestions on how I can find out what it's worth?

Re: 82 Prelude VERY low miles

The NADA website gives values for cars that old, although I think some of their estimates are a little optimistic.

Re: 82 Prelude VERY low miles

Good tip - thanks! Helpful but definitely seems optimistic for a car that's 33 years old. Plus I'm counting on having to potentially replace seals, gaskets and/or belts since it hasn't been driven in at least 3 years.

Re: 82 Prelude VERY low miles

Maybe contact the folks at Honda Roots.com as they cater to old Hondas. Not sure if this old honda.com is back up yet, but that's another one.
Tell 'em what you said here. Because to the average Joe it's an old jalopy one can't hardly find parts for...but to the discerning collector you'd get true info regarding the value and know it's not going to be crashed by some crooked hat wearing youngster.

Also contact some car museums as that's a potential show piece there.
